New Hope Women’s Center Opens in Maricopa, Arizona

On December 1st, Hope Women’s Center opened its doors to Maricopa women and teen girls.

The Maricopa center is Hope Women’s Center’s fifth location, with additional locations in Phoenix, Apache Junction, Coolidge, and the West Valley. The official Grand Opening will be Thursday, January 21st, at 9 a.m.

Hope Women’s Center is a faith based non-profit organization with 36 years’ experience encouraging, engaging, and equipping women and teen girls in crisis.

Our services address a broad range of holistic needs. We offer support groups, life skills classes, mentoring, pregnancy testing, parenting classes, abuse prevention education, recovery groups, and job training.

All program participation accrues points that can be used toward food and household items, clothing, diapers, and utility assistance.

When the Family Advocacy and Resource Center collaborated with Hope Women’s Center several years ago, they ranked mental and behavioral health as the most important health problems impacting the community.

The effects of COVID closures and safety restrictions have dramatically increased these needs, and unfortunately, the gap between community need and community care has broadened as well. Hope Women’s Center bridges those gaps by providing care and services at no cost and without restriction.

Maricopa’s Hope Women’s Center will be managed by Vanessa Behrens, the former director of Maricopa’s A Heart for You Pregnancy Center, which merged with Hope in 2017. Says Behrens, “Hope Women’s Center is a safe place where women experiencing a crisis will be heard, supported, and understood.”

Behrens is grateful to the many local churches and businesses, volunteers, and service groups who provided supplies and helped with demolition, renovation, and specialized labor.

Support from the Maricopa community has been incredible. Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona was involved in much of the renovation process and councilman Rich Vitiello came to help with the work. It’s been a real team effort.

The official Grand Opening for Hope Women’s Center Maricopa is Thursday, January 21st, at 9 a.m. Mayor Price will share a few words and perform the ribbon cutting.

Team effort is what it’s all about. Our impact depends on community partnerships, so we’re excited about future collaborations with other incredible organizations.

The more Maricopa women and teen girls we can help, the better. When women have access to the services they need, it transforms their lives, the lives of their families, and their communities.
