Dog Days of Summer

If you think you’re hot in this summer heat, imagine how your furry pup feels. That is why you should take him or her to tonight’s annual Dog Days of Summer extravaganza going on throughout Downtown Mesa for some doggy fun and treats!

Your pup can compete in a dog talent show, a tail-wagging and costume contests, enjoy stories, a free dog beer and wine tasting, scavenger hunts, dog bean bag throwing, professional dog photos and drawings, free biscuits and more!

Dog Days of Summer runs from 6 to 10 p.m. and is located at various Downtown Mesa stores.

OneOhOne will host a dog costume contest with various prizes donated by the Pet Club, 55 S. Country Club Dr. Free dog biscuits for all attendees.Bring your dog or sign up to be a judge! OneOhOne Gallery will also feature art exhibits, live music and $1 root beer floats!

Dog Talent Show & More

The Bungalow wants your pup to show off his or her tricks at their Doggy Talent Show. There will also be a Wag-Your-Tail contest, plus a kids’ area with readings of dog stories and face painting. www.InsideTheBungalow.com

Canine Beer & Wine Tasting
il Vinaio Restaurant, 270 W. Main St.,
In cooperation with Bark Vineyards and 3 Busy Dogs, il Vinaio will present Free Wine and Beer Tasting for your “best friend”. Yes you heard right. This wine and beer is safe and healthy for your dog. There will also be plenty of grass, fans and misters to cool your pooch’s paws. Humans may come inside il Vanaio and enjoy some live music with dinner and the restaurant’s beer & wine list.

The unique jewelry studio and gallery invites dogs into the studio during second Friday for a doggie treat. Their owners can enter a drawing for a $25 gift certificate. The winner will be announced at 9 p.m. (you do not have to be present to win).

Desert Paws Rescue
The Human Bean, 405 W. Main St.
A downtown Mesa neighbor will host the Desert Paws rescue group from 6 to 8 p.m. Dogs will be up for adoption, with 25 percent of sales benefiting this rescue group. The Human Bean will also have lots of dog biscuits and will participate in the scavenger hunt.
