Outbound Sedona Brings Adventure-Focused Luxury Retreat to Arizona

Sedona’s hotel scene welcomed an exciting new addition this spring with the debut of Outbound Sedona, a reimagined desert retreat that transforms the former Poco Diablo Resort into a modern destination rooted in wellness, adventure and connection to the surrounding red rock landscape.

Officially opened in May 2026, the 138-room property sits just minutes from Uptown Sedona while still offering the peaceful, tucked-away atmosphere visitors crave when escaping to Northern AZ. The resort is part of the growing Outbound Hotels portfolio, known for creating outdoor-inspired destinations in adventure-driven locations like Jackson Hole, Mammoth Lakes and Stowe.

At Outbound Sedona, the focus is firmly on immersing guests in natural beauty and energy. Designed in partnership with The Gettys Group, the property embraces a modern Pueblo-inspired aesthetic with earthy textures, warm tones and architectural details that mirror the surrounding red rocks. The result feels elevated and contemporary without losing the relaxed spirit of Sedona itself.

Accommodations range from cozy king rooms to bunk rooms designed for groups and families, along with the spacious Serenity Suite. Many guestrooms feature patios, fireplaces and kitchenettes, allowing guests to settle into the slower pace of the desert while taking in the property’s scenic surroundings.

“Outbound Sedona marks an exciting new chapter for the brand, bringing our approach to design, programming, and community into the heart of one of the country’s most striking landscapes,” President of Outbound Hotels Matthew Mering said. “We wanted to create a place that feels rooted in Sedona, where guests and locals can come together, slow down, and experience the red rocks in an authentic way.”

That philosophy carries throughout, particularly at Moonwater, the property’s signature two-tiered pool retreat. Framed by sweeping views of Bell Rock, guests can lounge poolside with cocktails and small bites during the day before the setting transitions into a fireside gathering spot ideal for stargazing.

Select evenings also introduce Moonwater Sessions, a live music series that pairs Arizona musicians with sunset views. The programming adds a social, community-centered energy while still maintaining the relaxed atmosphere guests expect from a Sedona getaway.

Outbound Sedona also marked a first for the brand with the introduction of The Spa at Outbound Sedona. Opened shortly after the resort’s debut, the spa is designed as a restorative sanctuary focused on recovery and relaxation. The wellness space features treatment rooms, an adults-only pool, dry sauna and cold plunge, embracing the growing trend of wellness-forward travel experiences.

Dining also plays a major role at the resort thanks to Lucida, the property’s forthcoming signature restaurant developed in partnership with Folkart Management. The restaurant embraces a menu inspired by high-desert ingredients and Southwestern flavors, with dishes ranging from prickly pear parfaits to mesquite salmon.

Outbound Sedona makes adventure easy. The on-site Gear Garage provides trail-ready essentials, while tennis and pickleball courts add another recreational option. The property also serves as a stop on the Verde Shuttle, complimentary transportation that connects visitors to popular hiking trails and scenic viewpoints.

June’s Rhythm & Rally Weekend combines live music, tennis and pickleball clinics, DJ sets, and community programming designed to bring locals and visitors together. With its thoughtful design, immersive programming and deep connection to the surrounding landscape, the resort offers travelers a fresh new way to experience Arizona’s iconic red rocks.
