The Iconic ‘Invisible House’ is for Rent in Joshua Tree

Completely wrapped in a glass exterior, the Invisible House in Joshua Tree, Calif. reflects the surrounding Mojave Desert landscape so that it almost disappears into the horizon.

This California landmark property is now for rent for $150,000 per month with Engel & Volkers Santa Monica.

Designed in 2019 by American Psycho film producer Chris Hanley in collaboration with architect Frank Gehry and collaborator Tomas Osinski, the “horizontal skyscraper” is propped up on concrete risers above 90 acres of land that connects with Joshua Tree National Park and has heat-reflective glass paneling that acts as a mirror against the scenic rock formations and desert night sky.

The three-bedroom home features a mostly open layout with corrugated steel 11-foot ceilings and luxurious living spaces, including a master suite with clear glass walls that offer endless views of the desert terrain and a 100-foot-long indoor solar-heated pool adjoining the living room and Boffi entertainment kitchen.

Full-length doors slide open to reveal the surrounding mountains and cacti, countless hiking trails, and an uninterrupted evening sky so that luxurious living and the desert’s natural environment blend together.

The Invisible House is also a great backdrop and location for creative projects, such as films and photoshoots, and has been used by multiple celebs as a getaway retreat or filming location for music videos.
