Houzz, the leading platform for home remodeling and design, recently announced the winners of the 2024 Best of Houzz awards, which recognize the top-rated home professionals and the most popular designs on Houzz in each city across the country and around the world.

In Phoenix, residents voted for their favorite home designs, revealing the city’s most popular designs for kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms, pools, patios, home gyms and more. Many of the winning designs and professionals on this year’s Best of Houzz awards list for Phoenix are leaning into trends that Houzz expects to see more of in 2024, including fluted cabinets and details, warm neutrals and blue focuses.

In the kitchen, Phoenix residents are opting for bright, open spaces boasting warm neutrals, unique kitchen islands and textured elements. One way to introduce texture is through blended backsplashes. Houzz designers are now installing a slab of stone or quartz behind the range or cooktop while keeping the surrounding backsplash areas tiled. This gives the kitchen a vertical display of graphic veining or other interesting details to create a striking focal point that’s easy to clean.

Fluted cabinets and details are another kitchen trend that have also become popular for bathrooms and living room furniture. The aesthetic creates a thick, often rough statement detailing beneath island countertops, bathroom vanities and dining room tables, adding visual texture and interest.

Among the most popular home design trends in Phoenix for 2024 is the moving away from cool grays and stark whites to warmer neutrals like beiges, creamy off-whites and rich browns. This look is especially popular in the kitchen, but Houzz also predicts this color scheme to dominate other parts of the home to offer a calmer, more welcoming environment. Continuing the idea of creating a calm space, blues have become a major focus due to the shade’s calming influence. In Phoenix, blues are seen on cabinetry, furniture and bedroom walls and range from deep shades to sky-inspired hues.

Indoor/outdoor living has always been an important element in Phoenix home design, so residents can enjoy the natural landscape during all of the desert’s extreme seasons. In 2024, designers are elevating these indoor-outdoor spaces with stylish finishes, materials, furniture and decor, allowing for a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living. Outdoor fireplaces, bars, TVs and overhead shading are some of the ways designers are transforming Phoenix patios and outdoor gathering areas into livable spaces.

At-home amenities, as well as rooms that have been transformed into multi-use and entertainment spaces, are another design trend in Phoenix in 2024. Popular examples include home theaters and gyms, wine cellars and basements that serve as entertainment hubs with golf simulators. Outdoor pools that blend seamlessly with the desert surroundings and boast elevated elements like water and light features are also common ways designers are enhancing homes in Phoenix.
