P A L O S A N T O Debuts Handcrafted Sculptural Barro Vase Collection

This summer, P A L O S A N T O — a luxury binational home décor brand based in Arizona and Mexico – will unveil its highly anticipated barro clay vase collection, ceremonial forms handcrafted by master female artisans in Oaxaca. Rooted in tradition and reimagined through a contemporary lens, the launch features four distinct silhouettes: YUU, Altar, Tributo, and Ofrenda – each an ode to memory, ritual, and place.

Founded by longtime friends Concetta and Mariana, P A L O S A N T O was born from a shared journey through Mexico and a commitment to honoring the country’s artisanal heritage. Every piece in this collection is shaped entirely by hand using ancestral methods – no molds, potter’s wheels, or kilns – in a female-led, family-run studio in the highlands of Oaxaca.

The raw materials tell their own story. The clay, harvested by hand from the surrounding mountains, is unique to the region. Once shaped, the vases dry naturally under the sun for up to three weeks before being burnished with a hand-held quartz stone, a polishing technique that dates back generations.

With an ethos grounded in slow design, the collection reflects a deep reverence for the land, the artisan hands that shape each form, and the timeless symbols of Mexican tradition. They are not merely decorative objects – they are vessels filled with soul and story.

Each piece is imbued with the weight of ritual and ceremony, infused with the spirit of the elements. Designing them was a personal act of tribute (from this, “Tributo”) – a way to honor the sacred, from silhouettes inspired by ceremonial ofrendas to the textures forged by fire. Each piece is shaped in clay, memory and corazón.

Sustainability is woven into every stage of production. Artisans work with all-natural, locally sourced materials, using environmentally responsible methods that recycle waste, eliminate synthetic chemicals, and utilize alternative energy sources whenever possible.

“Each vessel is a collaboration across generations,” Concetta said. “It’s not just about design – it’s about legacy. It’s about preserving traditions and offering something that carries meaning into the modern home.”

The more ceremonial forms – Altar, Tributo, and Ofrenda – were designed by Mariana, who led the creative development of the series in close dialogue with the artisans.

“These pieces are deeply personal,” she said. “They are not just decorative – they carry soul. Each one reflects a part of our history, rooted in tradition and shaped by the spiritual symbolism behind it.”

The launch marks a new chapter in P A L O S A N T O’s mission to create intentional, story-rich objects that connect people across cultures and continents. The collection is a celebration of ceremony, heritage, and craftsmanship. To learn more, visit palosantodecor.com or follow along on Instagram @palosanto.decor
