Scottsdale Restaurant Serves Exclusive New Tequila

One tequila, two tequila, three tequila…and a bunch of other new cocktails are now available at The Spotted Donkey Cantina at el Pedregal in Scottsdale. Most notably, though, is that The Spotted Donkey is one of only five restaurants in the state to offer its very own tequila. Spotted Donkey management was selected to go on a tour with a group of U.S. restaurateurs to be part of an exclusive “Buy the Barrel” program at Casa Herradura in Amatitan, Jalisco Mexico. The two-day tour that included a start-to-finish learning process about how to produce the best tequilas in the world. During the process, management chose the Herradura Double Barrel Reposado, is a non-blended tequila that is rested in oak barrels for 11 months to achieve smoothness and then rested an additional month in a second, toasted oak barrel especially crated for finishing the maturation process. The tequila has a limited 240-bottle production that will be available at Spotted Donkey in addition to the “chilling machine” that cools the tequila to eight degrees for a perfect “neat” shot without ice.
In addition to the exclusive Herradura Double Barrel Reposado tequila, Spotted Donkey at el Pedregal will also be adding new cocktails and tequila choices to the menu. New choices include: “Sipping” tequilas like Clase Azul and Herradura Seleccion Suprema Extra Anejo; “Specialty” tequilas including La Pinta (pomegranate flavor), Don Miguel Mezcal and Mar Azul (banana tequila); “Reposado,” Antiguo de Herradura and Corzo; “Anejo” tequilas including Herradura and Ria Azul (organic tequila) as well as “Blanco/Silver/Plata” tequilas like Don Julio Blanco and Casa Noble. New cocktail selections include: Ducle Calor served with habanero-infused tequila, Cointreau, cilantro syrup, fresh lime juice and orange bitters; La Sandia mixed with watermelon-infused tequila shaken with fresh lime and o3 liquor; Oaxaca made with Herradura Reposado, pomegranate tequila, Pom juice and orange-scented honey syrup; Naranja made with orange and cinnamon-infused tequila and sweet & sour; Spanish Fly mixed with cherry-vanilla infused rum and Coca-Cola (many of the cocktails featured house-infused spirits). www.elpedregal.com.
