In just 9 days die-hard music fans will be traveling, camping, and listening to over a hundred of their favorite musical talents in the desert of Southern California. Yes, I am talking about Coachella, if you are one of the lucky ones heading to one of the two music-filled festival weekends then you know that not only is this festival about music, but also about fashion and style—granted a very unique kind.
To get in the frame of mind to start your Coachella wardrobe search a few inspirational keywords: Nicole Richie, Braids, Denim Shorts, Bohemian, Racerback Tanks, Friendship Bracelets, and Gladiator Sandals. Now for some visual inspiration:
Now that the new Madewell store is open in Scottsdale Fashion Square, a great pair of denim shorts will be easy to come by. My favorite are these dyed mini-shorts, the colors are amazing in seaglass, harbor pink, and deep pool… roll them once to show the frayed hem or roll them twice for a preppy-cool look.
Of course you must wear your favorite tank with these amazing shorts… Kate Bosworth looked great in her Coachella outfit from last year.
This boy-cut tank by Marc by Marc Jacobs would definitely be my first choice. I love the novelty of the felt letters and the lightweight cotton will be perfect for those hot days.
Coachella style isn’t just about what you are wearing, but it’s so about the hair. More than likely the messy waves, loose braids, and topknots are due to the… ummm camping and therefore restroom facility situation, but they are cute nonetheless. In my opinion no one really does/wears a braid like Lauren Conrad, and thanks to her newest endeavor The Beauty Department we now know her secret! Check out the tutorial here.
Thanks to fashionable attendees at festivals like Coachella, Hollywood starlets, and trendy bloggers the friendship bracelet has once again gained popularity… so much so that Net-A-Porter has its own “friendship bracelet” page (which is kind of amazing). So if you are not in to the whole DIY, learn from a 12-year-old girl on YouTube route check out these RTW versions.
To complete your Coachella look you’ll need a fabulous pair of shoes. Now, when you’ll be outside for hours on end (and even days on end) traveling from stage to stage, to the car, to the restroom, and to the tent you’ll need a comfy pair of shoes. These Moschino Floral flats will not only keep those feet happy but they’ll make a statement too.
