Prince William and Kate Visit CA – What should they wear?

The frenzy over the Royal Wedding has died down just in time for The Duke and Duchess aka Prince William and his bride Catherine to get the entire country in a buzz again over their mini tour of California July 8. It might be official business but it’s also Kate’s first foray to the states, so Women’s Wear Daily asked a few key Angelino’s what they thought the couple should wear during their stay. And though I thought Ryan Reynolds had the best unrelated- to- fashion comments… take a peek at what designers picked.

“William and Catherine in Seven For All Mankind exude a natural, effortless off-duty California style with premium denim as the foundation.” — Michele Manz creative director for Seven for All Mankind

The sea blue color of this bandeau top and hipster bottom bikini from my cruise 2012 collection reminded me of Kate’s engagement dress and ring.” — Rod Beattie of Bleu Rod Beattie

“Both the cloche for Kate at $70 and the classic fedora for William at $70 are 100 percent wool for the harsh British winters.” — Anna Delis, designer of Goorin Bros.

“We wanted to keep it light and breezy for summer by using chambray fabric for both pants, which will keep the royal newlyweds cool and casual for their visit to the West Coast.” — David Lim, designer of Kasil Workshop

“We thought a relaxed strapless jumpsuit in royal blue would be great on her for a California evening and chose an easy yet beautiful tiered dress for day, with her favorite V-neck and a refined tea length.” — Max and Lubov Azria of BCBG Max Azria

“I think she should be wearing my silk and cotton sateen dress from resort. It is inspired by the kind of dress an English woman would wear to a garden party.” — Gregory Parkinson

“Her trip is the perfect excuse to throw a pair of cotton trousers, a soft linen jacket and a classic yet evocative silk blouse. The look reflects the balance of old Santa Barbara Style mixed with a new Los Feliz/Silver Lake chic.” — Juan Carlos Obando

“The sweater-over-evening-skirt look is key for us — it adds an insouciant touch to a dressy ensemble. Shown here topped with a peak-lapel blazer, it is a perfect match for Kate’s approachable sense of style.” — Jenni Kayne

“At first glance, this look appears to be a dress, but it is actually two pieces — a maxiskirt and white blouse tucked in…beyond! It’s glamorous, Boho and sexy without being too revealing. Perfect for a beach party in Malibu. — Rachel Zoe

“Kate strolls Abbot Kinney in Venice in a slouchy doublebreasted blazer over an acid pastel Deco Palm print bikini top, and a grosgrain-tied paperbag waist short to show off her incredibly slender waistline.” — Trina Turk

For her Vans’ Beach Bungalo’s straw bag and for him Vans’ classic canvas summer shoe.
