Phoenix might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of skiing and snowboarding, but that’s exactly what makes AZ Snow Zone so groundbreaking. Opened to the public this year, it’s the first indoor dry slope snowboard and ski park in the U.S. The facility offers an alternative to traditional mountain resorts, providing riders with the opportunity to experience snow sports without requiring actual snow.
AZ Snow Zone park features dry slope turf that mimics the glide of real snow, complete with jumps, rails, airbags, trampolines, and even a trampoline-to-ramp combo that’s become a fan favorite.
The surface, made from high-quality dry ski material, works with a safe, non-toxic lubricant to simulate the feel of carving down a slope, minus the cold, the altitude, and the long drive. Founder Josh Sinclair, a Phoenix native, knows firsthand how tough it can be to access snowboarding from the desert.
“Growing up in Phoenix, snowboarding always felt out of reach,” Sinclair said. “It was expensive, seasonal, and inaccessible without long drives. I wanted to create something for people like me – a place where anyone, no matter their background, could learn, progress, and fall in love with snow sports.”
After working in the nightlife scene in Scottsdale, Sinclair traded city lights for mountain life, spending seasons in Flagstaff and Colorado, chasing powder and working at resorts. But the idea for AZ Snow Zone came from a simple desire: to bring the snow-bum lifestyle back home – and make it accessible to everyone.
AZ Snow Zone offers private and group lessons for beginners through advanced riders, as well as specialized seasonal programs, including Youth Development Clinics, Summer Shred Packages, and collaborations with schools and youth organizations. Riders can drop in for as little as $10 an hour or $25 for an all-day weekday session. Rental gear is $5, and flexible pricing options — including memberships and family packs — are designed to keep the experience affordable.
Beyond being a training ground for riders, AZ Snow Zone has quickly become a social hub and community hotspot. Weekend warriors, families, and aspiring athletes all share the same turf — whether they’re learning their first turns or sending tricks into the airbag. The park also offers gear tuning services, making it a one-stop destination for anyone passionate about progression. Learn more at azsnowzone.com.
