Meet Chestnut Sports Club, Arizona’s New “Playable Beer” Made for Active Days

A new Arizona-based beverage brand is stepping onto the field with a fresh take on beer designed for recreation, connection, and everyday play. Chestnut Sports Club, founded by Phoenix native Adam Zloto, has officially launched statewide, with a major retail debut at Sprouts Farmers Market locations across Arizona. It’s bringing a lighter, brighter energy to the craft beer space.

Chestnut Sports Club is tapping into a growing shift toward flavor-forward, better-for-you options that don’t compromise on taste or experience. Its flagship Light Citrus Lager is brewed with real lemon zest and delivers a crisp, refreshing profile that feels at home just about anywhere Arizona life happens. At 90 calories, 5 carbs, and 3.7 percent ABV, the beer offers full flavor in a lighter format that aligns with more active, social lifestyles.

The brand calls it “the playable beer,” a phrase that captures its sweet spot: easy-drinking, refreshing, and built for long days that don’t revolve around sitting still. Think golf rounds, park hangs with friends, pickleball matches, or sunny weekends spent outdoors. It’s designed to be the kind of beer you can enjoy while still feeling like yourself, not weighed down.

“Chestnut Sports Club started with a simple idea,” Zloto said. “I wanted a beer that tasted great but didn’t slow you down. Something you could drink while doing the things you love, and still be really tasty. Bringing that vision to life here in my hometown is truly a dream come true.”

Locally brewed in partnership with Zonafide Brewing in Tempe, the umbrella company formed from the merger of Huss Brewing and Phx Beer Co, Chestnut Sports Club balances drinkability with character. It’s available in cans and on draft at locations throughout the Valley, appealing to traditional beer drinkers as well as those seeking lighter, more wellness-conscious choices. The lower alcohol content also makes it a natural pace setter for social occasions that last beyond a single round.

At Sprouts, the launch includes an exclusive tall-can format designed to encourage trial and accessibility, alongside six-packs of 12-ounce cans. Beyond retail shelves, the brand is already building a presence at bars, restaurants, and specialty markets across the Valley, including Gracie’s Tax Bar, AJ’s Fine Foods, Total Wine, Monsoon Market, Grass Clippings, Tia Carmen and more.

The name references Chestnut Street in San Francisco, where Zloto once lived, and pairs it with the concept of a modern sports club built around community, movement, and shared experiences. It’s less about competition and more about participation, about showing up and being part of the moment.

Looking ahead, the brand plans to plug into Arizona’s packed first-quarter sports calendar, with activations tied to Spring Training, golf, running clubs, and major events like the WM Phoenix Open and Arizona Tennis Classic. Chestnut Sports Club also plans to explore partnerships that support organizations connected to Phoenix’s expansive outdoor landscape. Learn more at chestnutsportsclub.com.
