October is shaping up to be a busy month at The Pemberton, where Pride celebrations, Halloween festivities and community giving will take over the two-acre property.
Located in the heart of Roosevelt Row, The Pemberton will celebrate Phoenix Pride Festival weekend, host a month-long fundraiser benefiting Camp Catanese and cap the month with its annual Halloween Ball.
“Halloween season is one of our favorite times of the year at The Pemberton,” says Mel Nichol, general manager. “After the tremendous success of last year’s sold-out celebration, we knew we had to go all out again. We’re also excited to celebrate Phoenix Pride Festival and continue supporting organizations that make a difference in our community.”
The October festivities kick off with Phoenix Pride Festival weekend, October 9-11, with events happening throughout the property. Friday’s lineup includes a K-Pop Pride Pool Party Takeover at Ibiza beginning at 5 p.m., followed by the Pride Hip-Hop House Party at Black Flamingo from 8 p.m. to midnight and Drag Fantasy at Babygirl from 8-10 p.m.
Saturday features the Venus House Party with Elevate from 4 p.m. to midnight at The Pemberton House, along with Pride Carnival’s One Love drag show at Muertos from 8 p.m. to midnight. On Sunday, after The Pemberton’s float makes its way through the Phoenix Pride Parade, guests can take a branded shuttle from the Arizona Center to The Pemberton.
The afternoon will include a Pool Party with DJ Image at Ibiza Pool, GPECC’s Chillout Lounge and local vendors throughout Skal and inside The Pemberton House. The weekend wraps up with Pride Karaoke, hosted by Jazzy The Healer, from 8-11 p.m. at Muertos.
Giving back will also be part of The Pemberton’s October plans. Throughout the month, $1 from every margarita sold will be donated to Camp Catanese, a nonprofit that empowers underserved, first-generation students. The fundraising continues October 22, when The Pemberton will offer happy hour pricing all night and donate 15 percent of all sales to Camp Catanese.
As Halloween approaches, The Pemberton will add several themed events to the calendar. On October 22, Girl Dinner at Black Flamingo will transform into a Séance at 7 p.m. The $35 ticket includes a four-course dining experience inspired by the spirit world and an elixir. That same night, Movie Night at Ibiza will feature a free screening of Rocky Horror Picture Show in honor of the late Tim Curry.
On October 29, guests can head to Muertos for Cocktails + Carving from 7-9 p.m. Tickets are $25 and include a pumpkin, carving tools and one cocktail or mocktail. The month culminates with The Pemberton’s annual “Nightmare on 2nd Street Halloween Ball” on October 31. The entire two-acre property will become a sprawling haunted house, with all eight bars taking on themes inspired by classic horror movies.
Guests can expect horror-inspired cocktails, Jell-O shots and four DJs throughout the property, along with a costume contest for those ready to show off their most creative Halloween looks.
