The open road is calling, and this April, it comes with a dose of nostalgia and horsepower. The Copperstate 1000 returns April 12-15, 2026, for its 36th annual run, bringing a lineup of vintage automobiles to Arizona for a four-day, 1,000-mile journey through some of the state’s most breathtaking landscapes.

Presented by the Men’s Arts Council and sponsored by Bell Lexus North Scottsdale, the rally has long been considered one of North America’s premier auto events. Each year, it draws collectors and enthusiasts from around the world, all eager to experience the thrill of driving meticulously preserved vehicles – ranging from sports cars to grand touring classics – manufactured prior to 1974.

“The Copperstate 1000 is not your average rally,” said Desi Allazetta, Copperstate 1000 chair. “Participants come from all over the globe to drive 1,000 miles through Arizona. It’s a strong tradition, and our participants look forward to it every year. I am excited to be a part of it and to bring a fresh perspective.”

This year’s route promises to be as memorable as ever. From sweeping desert highways to lush river valleys, historic small towns, and cool alpine elevations, the journey is designed to surprise even the most seasoned drivers. The 2026 rally will also honor the 100th anniversary of Route 66, weaving in a tribute to one of America’s most iconic roadways.

For those who prefer to admire the cars up close, the Copperstate 1000 Send-Off Event offers a front-row seat to the action. Held on April 12 at Tempe Diablo Stadium, the public event begins at 7:30 a.m., when vehicles line up across the outfield. Spectators can meet drivers and co-drivers before the official departure at 9 a.m., as each car is announced and sent off on its journey.

The rally’s appeal continues to grow. In 2025, 85 vintage automobiles took part, with participants traveling from across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Europe. The lineup featured iconic marques like Porsche, Ferrari, Jaguar, and Maserati, alongside rare and lesser-seen models that reflect the event’s rich automotive heritage. For many, the Copperstate 1000 is an annual reunion, fostering a tight-knit community bonded by a shared passion for classic cars and the open road.
