As the Phoenix area has transformed from a growing desert city into one of the nation’s largest metropolitan regions, Donley A/C & Plumbing has been growing alongside it.
The Valley-based company is celebrating 50 years in business this year, marking a milestone that reflects not only the region’s explosive growth, but also the staying power of a family-focused service company built on consistency, trust and long-term relationships.

When Donley first opened its doors in 1976, just over one million people called the Valley home. Today, the population has swelled to more than five million, and the company has evolved into one of Arizona’s largest residential and light commercial HVAC and plumbing service providers.
“Phoenix has grown tremendously over the past 50 years, and we’ve grown right along with it,” General Manager Mike Donley said. “We take the time to walk customers through what’s going on in their home, what their options are, and what makes the most sense for them. If you take care of your employees, they’ll take care of your customers. That mindset has guided us for five decades.”
That employee-first approach has become a defining part of the company’s culture. Several Donley team members have worked at the company for more than 35 years, while two employees recently retired after spending more than four decades with the business.
For customers, that longevity often translates into familiar technicians, trusted relationships and the comfort of seeing the same faces return year after year.

Over time, the company adapted alongside changing technology and homeowner needs. While Donley began primarily as an HVAC company, a shift came in 1990 when leadership expanded into plumbing services. The decision helped transform the business from a seasonal operation into a year-round service provider with greater stability for both employees and customers.
Today, the company serves homeowners throughout Maricopa County and maintains an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, a reflection of the straightforward customer-service philosophy that has guided the business since the beginning.
Donley has also supported more than 40 charitable organizations over the years. One longtime partnership has been with Child Crisis Arizona. When Donley first became involved with the organization, it operated out of only a handful of small buildings. Today, Child Crisis Arizona has grown into a major Valley resource.
As the company looks ahead, leadership says the mission remains unchanged: invest in employees, serve customers honestly and continue showing up for the communities that helped build the business. Learn more at donleyservice.com.
