“A crowd favorite” basically sums up celebrity hairstylist, Sarah Potempa and her latest dynamic invention, The Beachwaver Co. The Beachwaver is the first-ever rotating curling iron to give you those longingly sought-after perfect beach waves. Potempa, who is most commonly known for styling perfectly placed tresses on the covers of magazines, movie premieres and ad campaigns, knows how difficult it is to accomplish that perfect beach wave. After drafting her sisters and a team of engineers, she has created something that seems like it is from the hands of our fairy godmothers themselves. This tool will give every woman (or fashionable man) the opportunity to beachify their hair in minutes. Bring the coast to the Valley this spring and summer and check out the award-winning Beachwaver along with the hottest and totally doable hairstyles and trends. Potempa gave us in the inside scoop below.

Spring/Summer Trend #1: Accent braids

This includes French braids, waves and space buns combo, fishtail braids, Dutch braids. etc.

To accomplish the style pictured:
Step 1: Curl all the hair using the Beachwaver S1.
Step 2: Create a mohawk section and divide it into two sections by parting it in the middle. Spray with a flexible hold hairspray. Create two tight Dutch braids and secure them next to each other at the crown.
Step 3: Bring the two braids together into one pony, and secure with a clear elastic.
Step 4: Take a small strand of hair from the bottom of the pony, wrap around the elastic to conceal and pin with a bobby pin.
Step 5: Spray the pony with hairspray, and tease the crown area. Then tease the pony for extra volume.

Spring/Summer trend #2: Dramatic and High-Volume Ponytails

Expert Tip: If your upstyles need a little extra oomph, try adding clip-in extensions to bump up the volume

Steps for accomplishing the hairstyle:
Step 1: Curl all the hair using a Beachwaver S1.
Step 2: Section out about an inch of hair from the front hairline.
Step 3: Create a small pony next to this section and secure, then clip up and away.
Step 4: Take two sections on either side of the first pony, and bring them around and underneath, securing with an elastic.
Step 5: Release the first pony, and split into two. Pull the second ponytail up through the split of the first, and clip that pony up, leaving the hair from the first ponytail down. Secure this ponytail with an elastic.
Step 6: Repeat this process, adding hair from underneath to each pony as you work until you reach the ear. Once you reach the ear, continue without adding hair.
Step 7: When you have a few inches on the bottom, secure, then gently pull each loop to expand.

Spring/Summer trend 3: Combinations of Texture and Mixed Braids

Examples: waves and braids, fishtail and three-strand braids, Dutch and pull-through braids, twists, texture in the crown and sleek at the ends, different size braids to add variety, etc.

Steps to accomplish the style pictured:
Step 1: Curl all the hair using the Beachwaver S1.25. Spray generously with texture spray.
Step 2: Section out a few face-framing pieces in the front, then section the hair into two down the middle, and clip one side away.
Step 3: On the other side, create a Dutch braid (like a French braid but cross hair under instead of over) that extends a couple inches past the ear. Pancake the braid (gently pinch and pull strands to loosen and add volume), and secure with a clear elastic.
Step 4: Split this pigtail into two sections. Take a small piece of hair from the right section, wrap it over the right section and under the left section, then back over the left section and under the right section, ending back where you started (this is called an Infinity braid). Step 5: Repeat this process, tightly wrapping and weaving, for about an inch. Secure with an elastic, then wrap a strand of hair around the elastic to conceal.
Step 6: Repeat steps 3 through 5 on the other side.
Step 7: Tease and fluff each pigtail with a comb. Finish by “piercing” braids with hair rings and adding gold glitter.
