Good Housekeeping Magazine<\/em> has reached its astonishing 125th year in business and celebrated last night with a celebrity-casted show, \u201cShine On,\u201d that salutes to influential and inspiring women of the past 125 years. This one-night-only show at Manhattan\u2019s City Center was hosted by Brooke Shields and featured very special guests Meryl Streep, Kristen Bell, Aretha Franklin, Marlee Matlin, Laura Benanti, Fran Drescher, Kelli O’Hara, and many more.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The sales from the event help build the first permanent location in Washington, D.C., for the National Women\u2019s History Museum, which is dedicated to preserving, interpreting, and celebrating the diverse historic contributions of women.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThe show is indicative of efforts by media companies to extend their properties outside the traditional realms of the printed page or TV set. In some instances, like \u2018Shine On,\u2019 there are efforts to bring a media brand to life in tangible ways, known as experiential marketing,\u201d according to The New York Times.<\/em><\/p>\n

Other celebrities that attended the event to support women included: Hilary Duff, Jessica Simpson, Michelle Trachtenberg, Cheryl Tiegs, Miss Piggy and Candice Bergen.<\/p>\n

\u201cShine On\u201d was sponsored by a longtime Good Housekeeping advertiser, the Maybelline New York brand of cosmetics sold by L\u2019Or\u00e9al.<\/p>\n
