Dig It Gardens<\/a> was never supposed to become a wedding venue. The garden center began as a place to shop for plants, gather with friends and enjoy an unexpected pocket of green in the middle of the city. Then, several years ago, a longtime customer asked a simple question: Could she get married there? That one question changed everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dig It Gardens is officially expanding its events business, offering a setting for couples, families, businesses and nonprofit organizations looking for something beyond the traditional ballroom. The property features more than 30,000 square feet of outdoor space and more than 3,000 square feet indoors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe want people to feel like they\u2019re celebrating at a family member\u2019s home rather than at a conventional venue,\u201d Co-owner Jessica Jerrell said. \u201cAlmost like you have an aunt or uncle with a beautiful garden center who says, \u2018Come celebrate here. Make it your own.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the wedding, that friend gifted Dig It a chandelier that still hangs in the property\u2019s steel shade structure, where it has watched over weddings, receptions, fundraisers and family celebrations ever since.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, Dig It can accommodate weddings and receptions, bridal and baby showers, birthdays, anniversaries, corporate gatherings, fundraisers, donor events, workshops and more. Hosts can choose their vendors, rethink traditional layouts and design gatherings around how they want guests to spend their time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

General Manager Alex Washburn leads the events program, helping clients navigate the property and manage the details behind each gathering. Plants, pottery and artwork are woven throughout the space, creating a naturally distinctive backdrop without a particular theme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere are little moments waiting to happen everywhere,\u201d Washburn said. \u201cPeople discover different parts of the property throughout the event, and that gives the experience a sense of movement and personality. Our hope is that they leave saying, \u2018We\u2019ve never celebrated anywhere quite like this before.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
