The Valley of the Sun is home to a hot dance duo. \u00a0Tessa and\u00a0Ren\u00e9e are a mother and child pair\u00a0who have found stardom through the Lifetime series “Dance Moms.”<\/p>\n

AZ Foothills got the chance to sit down and chat with these stars of “Dance Moms.” \u00a0Read their insight on the show, and their thoughts on the lifestyle of being a dancer\u00a0below.<\/p>\n

AFM- How did you become involved with Dance Moms?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tessa and I had received a mass email that was an\u00a0advertisement for a new TV show that was to be called\u00a0\u201cSo your kid can dance”. \u00a0I submitted Tessa\u2019s information and a video of her performing a solo and heard back\u00a0from them no more than 20 min. later. It was crazy. We\u00a0went through the audition process and made the cut for\u00a0the show which turned out to be \u2018Abby\u2019s Ultimate Dance\u00a0Competition\u201d \u201cAUDC\u201d on Lifetime TV. Having that\u00a0exposure, experience and staying on top of the dance\u00a0seen transpired into this opportunity.<\/p>\n

AFM- Have you experienced a change in your typical lifestyle\u00a0now that you are involved?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is a life style change for sure however I feel like we are\u00a0ready for it now verses when we first began on AUDC. It\u00a0was a learning curve for our family and for Tessa and I\u00a0as well. There is so many things to address and organize\u00a0in order to have a successful large family, marriage and\u00a0dance partnership between Tessa and I. It has been a life\u00a0style change for the whole family. Thanks to my husband\u00a0Bill along with our 4 boys Calvin, Lucas, ashton and\u00a0Bronsen for being so supportive and making it possible.<\/p>\n

AFM- How frequently are you in a new episode for Dance\u00a0Moms?<\/strong><\/p>\n

We began on season 5 episode 13 and from there we\u00a0are on a majority of the episodes. It varies.<\/p>\n

AFM- If you were to explain the show to a viewer who has not\u00a0seen the show, how would you describe it?<\/strong><\/p>\n

That is a great question. Well i would tell them that it is a\u00a0show that follows the lives of competitive young dancers\u00a0and their dance moms; showing the viewers what goes\u00a0into preparation, performing and all the drama that\u00a0occurs through the journey. It is important for one to\u00a0realize that Dance Moms is a controversial \u201ctv show\u201d\u00a0and to keep it as that. It is not to be used as a guide of\u00a0how to behave and what it is like being a dance Mom. \u00a0Believe me the real life of a dance mom can be filled\u00a0with drama however dance Moms do come in all forms\u00a0not just what is highlighted in the show.<\/p>\n

AFM- Renee, What do you think qualifies as a good\u00a0dance mom?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Being a good dance Mom is what I truly believe is a skill\u00a0that is learned paired with genuine love for your dancer. \u00a0It is really important to become educated on the art\/sport so you can be a advocate for your dancer. This is a\u00a0very dear topic to Tessa and I that we love to share our\u00a0knowledge and experiences with others to help them\u00a0avoid mistakes we have made and hard lessons learned. \u00a0We truly want to help others succeed in dance. Both\u00a0Tessa and I address key topics with fellow dance Moms\u00a0and dancers weekly through\u00a0my blog<\/a> and Tessa’s blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n

AFM- Renee,\u00a0What do you think would make you fall\u00a0into the category of a bad dance mom?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I believe a bad dance mom can be a result of different\u00a0things. One type of bad dance mom is the one that\u00a0hovers over their child dancer giving them no room to\u00a0grow as the dancer they are meant to become. Another\u00a0bad dance mom is one that is not present emotionally,\u00a0and supportively for their child. We need to remember\u00a0that we are raising children and that requires guidance,\u00a0love and support.<\/p>\n

AFM- Tessa,\u00a0what’s your favorite thing about dance?<\/strong><\/p>\n

My favorite thing about dance is being able to create art\u00a0with your body.<\/p>\n

AFM- Tessa, what’s your dream with dance in the\u00a0future?<\/strong><\/p>\n

To dance professional in a company and to be involved\u00a0with dance throughout my life.<\/p>\n

AFM- Did you watch dance moms before being on the show?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Believe it or not we did not watch \u201cDance Moms\u201d\u00a0before. We are always at the dance studio till late into\u00a0the evening making TV watching not possible. But of\u00a0course we knew of the show and had the pleasure of\u00a0knowing the cast and crew through our earlier AUDC\u00a0experience.<\/p>\n

AFM- What’s it like to be in the dance community of Arizona?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our dance community in Arizona is made up of many\u00a0talented dancers. There is great training within the Phoenix and Scottsdale area. You just need to know how to\u00a0find it.<\/p>\n

AFM- Are there any other Arizona families on the show?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes, incredibly there are 2 other Arizona families on the\u00a0show. As I said above Arizona has great training. \u00a0Being the best dancer you can be is what Tessa and I are\u00a0all about. Please check out our information below.<\/p>\n
