What is the difference between Dysport and Botox? Which do you recommend to a patient?\u00a0What do you recommend a woman like me to get for my skin and wrinkles? (55+ female)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">A: \u00a0Dysport and Botox are very similar neuro-toxins used to treat skin wrinkles caused by muscle movement.\u00a0 I would generally consider them equivalent and their use should be based on injector or patient preference.\u00a0 I use Botox since it has been around longer and has a longer track record.\u00a0 Wrinkles in general can be caused by muscle movement or by sun damage\/aging.\u00a0 Botox or Dysport would only be indicated for wrinkles associated with muscle movement. Wrinkles associated with aging or sun damage are more likely to be treated by resurfacing or volume rejuvenation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><strong>Q.) Botox- does it prevent wrinkles longer down the line\/ should you get at an earlier age to prevent further wrinkles?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">A: Yes, Botox is a great preventative treatment that is better used in smaller amounts earlier, rather than after wrinkles have developed.\u00a0 The exact age to start will vary but its not uncommon to start in the middle to late twenties with some of the stronger muscle groups.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Q.) What does it feel like when you get Botox? I&#8217;m slightly afraid to get the procedure done.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">A: Botox is injected with a small (30G or 32G) needle.
