The average adult needs about\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ods.od.nih.gov\/factsheets\/Calcium-HealthProfessional\/\">1,000 milligrams<\/a>\u00a0of this essential nutrient every day, where about a\u00a0half-cup serving of tofu fortified with calcium contains about 25 percent of that.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fatty Fish<\/strong><br \/>\nMost adults need about\u00a0600 international units (IU) of vitamin D each day, <a href=\"http:\/\/ods.od.nih.gov\/factsheets\/VitaminD-QuickFacts\/\" target=\"_blank\">according<\/a> to the National Institutes of Health. A number of breakfast options, including cereals, come\u00a0fortified with a punch of vitamin D. One medium sweet spud with skin has\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ndb.nal.usda.gov\/ndb\/foods\/show\/3555\">542 milligrams<\/a>\u00a0and a medium white potato with the skin has\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ndb.nal.usda.gov\/ndb\/foods\/show\/3152\">751 milligrams<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bananas<br \/>\n<\/strong>Bananas are a well-known potassium gold mine, but don&#8217;t often make lists of foods for healthy bones.
