How to Celebrate Earth Day in Phoenix: Activities, Events & More

Earth Day is this Saturday, April 22, and to honor our planet, different organizations around the Valley are hosting events that will bring awareness to environmental issues and celebrate life on Earth. Here are some of the events taking place during Earth Day weekend in metro Phoenix where you can show your respect to the planet we call home. 

Phoenix

Earth Day Expo at the Children’s Museum of Phoenix

The Children’s Museum of Phoenix is celebrating Earth Day with fun outdoor activities at the Children’s Garden on April 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kids will get to make a seed starter pot and plant seeds in it to take home and watch their plants grow, enjoy a fun honey bee pom-pom craft, paint and fold a symmetrical butterfly and visit the sensory station. Earth Day Expo activities are free with paid Museum admission. 

Earth Day Celebration at Maya’s Farm with FOR Energy

Maya’s Farm and FOR Energy are celebrating our planet with food, fun and farming on Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission includes a farm to table cooking demonstration with Chef Elizabeth Mienz, an educational kids farmers market focusing on healthy choices, a seed planting activity with pots to take home, petting zoo, sustainable crafts and yard games, food and drinks and more. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for kids in advance online or $10 for adults and $8 for kids at the door. Space is limited. RSVP here

Green Living Magazine Earth Day Extravaganza 

Green Living Magazine and the City of Phoenix will celebrate Earth Day and honor the community’s ongoing efforts to protect and restore Arizona’s wildlife, parks and natural regions on Saturday, April 22 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Heritage & Science Park in Downtown Phoenix. The event will feature exhibits, live demos, educational workshops, live music from local musicians and other fun activities, including gardening, yoga, Native American dancing, a kids eco-fashion show and more. Spring Earth Day Celebration at Desert Ridge Marketplace

Celebrate our beautiful planet and embrace the magic of spring with a free and fun-filled Earth Day event at Desert Ridge Marketplace’s Splash Pad. Enjoy spring activities, giveaways, a photo op, Sip & Stroll and more, all while supporting H&M’s initiative to collect garments and prevent them from ending up in landfill. Earth Day activities include: Bring old garments to support H&M’s sustainability initiative and receive 15% off your next visit; paint a free custom planter with As You Wish Pottery in the AMC Lawn; the first 150 guests receive an Earth Day goodie bag filled with spring surprises; Snap a photo with a festive spring backdrop; Sip & Stroll at participating retailers (beginning at 12 p.m.); Acoustic Live Music and more!

Scottsdale

Earth Day Cleanup & Cocktails at Scott Resort & Spa

The Scott Resort & Spa has adopted a stretch of Camelback Road located between Scottsdale and Hayden Road to commemorate this year’s Earth Day and is inviting residents to celebrate the holiday by assisting in the road’s cleanup followed by cocktails at the resort on Saturday, April 22. Volunteers will meet at the Arizona Canal Trail at the Northeast corner of Camelback and Scottsale at 9 a.m. and will be provided with trash bags, gloves and safety vests. After the cleanup, join the group at The Scott Resort & Spa for mimosas and complimentary light bites at 11 a.m. All volunteers will also be entered to win a complimentary meal for two at The Canal Club. Public Garden Rededication at Butterfly Wonderland 

Celebrate Earth Day at Butterfly Wonderland during its Public Garden Rededication on Friday, April 21 at 11 a.m. The rededication will take place in the outdoor garden adjacent to Butterfly Wonderland and include a special release of Painted Lady butterflies and the unveiling of the garden’s new name. 

Earth Day Promotion at Stemistry Flower Bar & Coffee Lab

Stemistry is a reimagined and reinvented flower store and coffee lab in Scottsdale that was started by 17-year-old Dylan Capshaw in 2022, combining his two passions: flowers and coffee. As a way to celebrate Earth Day, guests who bring in old flower vases to be recycled on Saturday, April 22 will receive 15% off a coffee drink. Stemistry’s coffee lab menu includes creative coffee drinks, like the Rose Latte, 24K Gold Latte and Coconut Cream Latte, plus teas, matchas and more.

Tempe

Earth Day Cleanup at Papago Park 

Join the non-profit Clean Up Papago (C.U.P) on Friday, April 21 for their Earth Day cleanup event at Papago Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Meet at the Papago Park Preserve in Tempe at 9 AM for a complimentary coffee under the ramada before filling up your trash bucket. Trash grabbers, buckets, gloves, hand sanitizer, refreshments and snacks will be provided. Register and learn more here

eARTh Night at Tempe Center for the Arts

The free Earth Day Event takes place Saturday, April 22 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. as a culmination of a year-long series of exhibitions and programs celebrating the four elements, fire, water, earth and sky. This one-night program will include eco-friendly art making booths with Valley artists Laura Spalding Best and Yuko Yabuki, live music and happy hour drinks at the bar.
