With spring and summer just around the corner, it is the perfect time to take advantage of the warm weather. Taking your four-legged friend for a play date or run at a local dog park can be the perfect way to spend one of Arizona’s many sunny days. Check out these popular Tucson dog parks and plan a day with your pup.
Christopher Columbus Park
Located at 4600 N. Silverbell, Christopher Columbus Park has all the major necessities for a day of fun with man’s best friend. The 14,000 square-foot lighted facility is open from dawn until dusk each day and features a scrambling area, shaded area with ramada, scooper dispenser, and a Fido fountain.

Palo Verde Park
South of Broadway and West of Kolb, this park will have your dog’s tail wagging. It is a 38,000 square-foot area with a gravel surface. It features small and large dog fenced areas, picnic tables, dog-friendly drinking fountains, and a scooper dispenser. It is the perfect environment for dogs to meet furry friends. Open 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m daily.

Reid Park- Miko’s Corner Playground
Open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, Miko’s corner is a conveniently located off-leash dog area. Named after Miko, a Tucson Police Department police dog that died in the line of duty, the park features large turf areas, a divided two-acre site for large and small dogs, dog-friendly water fountains, ramadas, tables, and three double entry gates. Located at Country Club and 22nd Street.

Udall Park
Relax with your pup at Udall Park, located at 7290 E. Tanque Verde. With a large turf area, one-acre site, trash cans, seating area, and water for dogs, this park makes the perfect destination for a day in the great outdoors with your pet. Open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Sixth Avenue Dog Park
Located at 2075 N. 6th Ave., Sixth Avenue Dog Park is open from dawn to dusk daily. It features a ramada, tables, large grassy areas, and a double entry gate. This park is also the perfect place to bathe your dog, as it uniquely features a wash area.

Some Rules to Keep in Mind
1.Children under the age of 10 must have adult supervision and cannot be left unattended.
2.Dog owners must stay in the off-leash area within view of their dogs and have a leash within reach at all times.
3.All dogs must wear collars with a current Pima County license and must be up-to-date on all vaccinations.
4.Aggressive dogs are not permitted within the off-leash premises.
5.Dog waste must be cleaned up immediately by owner.
6.Dogs must be under voice control-they should be able to obey owner voice commands.
7.Puppies under the age of four months are prohibited from using off-leash areas.
8.Owners are responsible for filling any holes their dogs may dig.
