\nChef Matt Carter is already well-versed in creating amazing, one-of-a-kind dining experiences in Scottsdale (see: The Mission in Old Town Scottsdale and Zinc Bistro at Kierland Commons). Recently, the chef extraordinaire opened yet another special Scottsdale eatery: The House Brasserie, also in Old Town. The House dishes up European-influenced fare in a setting that is charming, elegant and just-right for many affairs (from a date night with the hubby to catching up with the girls). The restaurant consists of an old house–which itself boasts an incredibly\u00a0unique history–that houses intimate seating. Outside, a large patio surrounded by twinkle lights is simply stunning. A great spot to spend a cool fall evening in Arizona.
\nHowever, the impressiveness doesn’t stop with the setting. Like his fare at The Mission and Zinc Bistro, Carter’s The House menu, well, rocks. To start, the shared plates menu has plenty of greatness to choose from for nearly every taste. For a little sweetness and spice, the brisket, served on a biscuit with chili jam and white cheddar, is tops. Craving something lighter? The Arizona arugula and grilled peach salad, accented by lemon and served on toast, is fresh and flavorful. Like springtime on a plate.
\nSeafoodies will relish the savory roasted halibut, sided with Parmesan potatoes, braised kale and grilled shiitakes while it is hard to beat The House’s lamb bolognese for meat lovers. This particular dish offers a surprising element of mint that really makes it sing. On top, a fresh dollop of lemon mascarpone.
\nFor the perfect not-too-sweet, not-too-huge dessert, the caramel apple upside-down cake might be the quintessential fall dessert. To finish it, salted caramel and pistachio ice cream.
