\nChef Robert McGrath opened Scottsdale\u2019s Renegade Canteen a few years back\u2013and now Chef Aaron May (you know him\u2013Over Easy, Praying Monk, Mabel\u2019s on Main) has transformed the sleek dining spot into Renegade Kitchen and Tap. May strives for the casual yet chic dining spot to server \u201cdelicious, unpretentious food and a diverse bar offering that\u2019s enjoyable to the connoisseur as well as the average guy,\u201d he says.
\nThe restaurant is warm and welcoming with lots of woods, neutral colors and a wowza of a wine cellar. It is located smack-dab in the middle of the dining area and is encased in glass, giving diners a 360-degree view of Renegade\u2019s bottles. Outside, diners are invited to take a meal fireside\u2013perfect for Arizona\u2019s lovely fall and winter weather.

\nOn the menu, winners include the lobster taco, which is sweet and spicy and features a generous amount of crisped lobster; a spectacular Cobb salad; some of the Valley\u2019s tastiest French fries; short ribs with jalapeno grits; pan-roasted duck breast and much more.
\nHappy hour is offered every day from 4:30 to 6 p.m., and the Scottsdale restaurant recently opened for lunch.
