\nThe famed author of \u201cJulie and Julia\u201d\u2013which you may know as the book that sparked the hit movie of the same name starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams\u2013will be making her first Valley appearance tomorrow at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Scottsdale. From 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., best-selling author, memoirist and blogger, Julie Powell, be at the Valley culinary school as the Le Cordon Bleu students and staff will prepare and serve a gourmet four-course meal with wine pairings. One of the four courses will be a dish from Julia Child\u2019s \u201cMastering the Art of French Cooking.\u201d Powell will conduct an after-dinner discussion about the success of her blog, her inspiration for her year-long journey of cooking her way through all 524 recipes in Julia Child\u2019s 1961 classic tome on French cuisine, \u201cMastering the Art of French Cooking, Volume I,\u201d and how this was made into a movie. (In 2009. Le Cordon Bleu International President Andr\u00e9 J. Cointreau presented Julie Powell with an honorary Le Cordon Bleu diploma for her dedication and passion in her culinary pursuits.)
\nPowell will appear at this fundraising event for The Camp Soaring Eagle Foundation. The Camp Soaring Eagle Foundation provides\u00a0camping programs to children with chronic and life threatening illnesses, completely free of charge to the campers and their families. Tickets for dinner and the Powell discussion are $100 per person and can be purchased at http:\/\/www.campsoaringeagle.org\/<\/a>.
