Not that we&#8217;d want him to.\u00a0On Feb. 21, restaurant extraordinaire Sam Fox is scheduled to open his newest dining concept, The Arrogant Butcher, at CityScape in Downtown Phoenix. (Fox is the talented man behind Fox Restaurant Concepts and brought Sauce, Bloom, True Food Kitchen, NoRTH, Blanco Tacos + Tequila, Zinburger and more to the Valley.) The Arrogant Butcher, the 7,500-sq.-ft. space, is expected to be a thriving locale for just about everyone with taste buds&#8211;the business crowd meeting\u00a0for power lunches and after-work cocktails, those attending events in Downtown Phoenix and the night owls indulging in late-night food and drinks.<br \/>\nBefore we get into the fare, let&#8217;s focus on The Arrogant Butcher&#8217;s ultracool aesthetic. The Phoenix restaurant boasts an open dining room, an exhibition-style kitchen, a full-service bar and a climate-controlled outdoor patio (and we know Sam Fox knows how to do a cool patio). Guests can also expect\u00a0The Arrogant Butcher to have an urban industrial feel with soft woven fabrics and worn leathers in natural tones set against textured woods, worn and polished steel finishes, exposed concrete and glass.\u00a0Fox calls it a &#8220;raw, edgy, rough and unpolished look&#8221; though &#8220;comfortable and inviting.&#8221; To enjoy the mild temperatures of Arizona winter, there is\u00a0the climate-controlled patio. The patio features seating for up to 64 and is decked out\u00a0with funky painted picnic tables. Dishes include\u00a0charcuterie and cheese; smoked salmon dip; a shaved BBQ pork loin sandwich; and grilled chicken tabbouleh salad. For dinner, diners should return for a menu consisting of pork, seafood, steak, pasta and salads ranging from $14 &#8211; $34. On the dinner menu, guests can dig into Dungeness crab cakes, ricotta gnudi, a raw bar with oysters, mussels and lobster; braised duck and butternut squash lasagna; skirt steak with asparagus, bacon, fingerlings and crispy egg; grilled swordfish with artichokes, crushed chile and lemon risotto; and beef short rib stew.
