Staples of any weekend in the fall usually include barbecues, music, and, of course, a plethora of good old-fashioned get-togethers. Those venturing out of the backyard can check out a new vintage dive bar, a concept that combines the charm of a bygone era with the casual, unpretentious atmosphere of a dive bar, slated to open in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale’s bustling nightlife district in early September: Mother Tucker’s Tavern, which will take over the location previously occupied by Bevvy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite new ownership and a name change, Mother Tucker’s will maintain Bevvy’s sports bar legacy with plans to broadcast UFC fights and open early for football watch parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon entering the tavern, guests will be greeted by a cozy-chic pub aesthetic that combines eclectic seating arrangements with antique wallpaper and beer cans displayed under flickering neon lights. This blend of old and new creates a nostalgic and contemporary atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Menu highlights at Mother Tucker’s Tavern include a Snake River Farms American Wagyu beef hot dog with caramelized onions, pepper relish, dill pickle, and stone-ground mustard. The drink menu is full of fun and quirky options, like a 40-ounce Miller High Life paired with travel shots of 1942 Tequila, as well as a selection of beers, cocktails, and unique bar snacks.  The dive bar’s name has a special place in co-owner John-Dolan’s heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Ironically, my dad played at a bar called Mother’s, and the singer was named Tucker, so that became their nickname,” Dolan said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond that, Mother Tucker’s Tavern was created to fill a hole in the neighborhood bar scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We wanted to get back to the party pub roots of Bevvy and give it a timeless look inspired by some of our favorite dive bars, wood-paneled basement bars and other classic watering holes,” Dolan said. “Dive bars aren’t made; they have become that over decades because they don’t change and always deliver. That’s our goal with Mother Tucker’s Tavern.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new location is powered by two of Scottsdale’s top bar and restaurant groups, ensuring a high-quality experience. The first is Evening Entertainment Group, which oversees Bottled Blonde and Backyard. Royale Jelly Hospitality, founded by Dolan and his wife Lauren in 2017, oversees six restaurant and bar locations in the Phoenix area, including The Porch in Arcadia, Tempe and Gilbert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
