\nThe opening of a new restaurant is always exciting–especially when the fresh addition has a fun theme backed up by delicious food. Such is the case with North Scottsdale’s new PNPK<\/a> (named for nearby Pinnacle Peak).
\nYou see, the restaurant and wine bar features craft sliders and shareable flights of elevated comfort food (with great beer, wine and cocktails lists, to boot). While traditional entrees are available, why wouldn’t you want to order a few sliders and a flight of deviled eggs instead–which is just what we did during a recent visit.
\nBefore setting eyes on the food, guests will notice that the restaurant is quite stylish and sleek but with an incredibly welcoming and laidback vibe. We suggest settling in with a\u00a0Sonoran Flora & Fauna cocktail, a not-too-sweet but very refreshing medley of mezcal, prickly pear simple syrup and fresh lime. Or for a sip the gives back, $1 of the proceeds from an order of the Tickle Me PNPK Punch goes to the Friends of Pinnacle Peak Park.
\nFor the ultimate start to your comfort food fest, the deviled eggs are a must. The traditional Grandma Kerls’ secret recipe egg was a favorite (and reminded us of what our own grandmas would have made) but the candied bacon with jalapeno offering was a delectable mashup of sweet and spicy. Other options for a flight include smoked salmon with onion and capers and white truffle olive oil with chives, to name a few.
\nA bruschetta flight was next up, and we couldn’t get enough of the sweet-and-salty proscuitto, mascarpone, fig jam and honey option. The drunkin’ cherry compote atop creamy brie was another star that could have even served as a decadent dessert that begs to be enjoyed with a bold red wine.
\nTo mark our last round of flights, we dug into several sliders, each unique and ranging from fried chicken to falafel to meatball to a traditional slider patty. The brie truffle slider with sauteed mushrooms and white truffle aioli is decadent and juicy and the utter definition of “elevated comfort food.” The New Mexico Queso was a surprise standout that we devoured, thanks to the spicy hatch chile blanco queso queso and crispy crown of tortilla chips. This slider was everything you could want in game-day grub wrapped into one handheld treat (it is a slider meets nachos meets queso!)
