Read on to learn about Irvine&#8217;s most recent trip to Arizona and why &#8220;tiki&#8221; is the theme of his highly anticipated Nirvana event, Torch.<br \/>\n<strong>Have you been to Scottsdale\/Phoenix recently? If so, any thoughts on the local dining scene?\u00a0<\/strong><em>I\u2019ve been to the area many times and love the Sanctuary property. We just spent my wife\u2019s 40<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0birthday here. The local dining is great \u2013 there\u2019s such a variety to choose from, so no matter what we\u2019re in the mood for, we can find it quickly \u00a0and effortlessly.<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>What can guests expect during Nirvana\u2019s Torch event?\u00a0<\/strong><em>It\u2019s the ultimate Tiki Takedown. Jason Asher, the owner of Counter Intuitive and Undertow, and I will host the event as six bartenders battle it out to see which drink will take the top spot.<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Have you worked with Chef Beau MacMillan before?<em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><em>Yes. We\u2019ve done several events in the past together before including his annual Lunch &amp; Learn series here at the Sanctuary.<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>What inspired you to host a Polynesian-inspired event?<em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><em>A cocktail competition with a theme is a really kinetic way to kick off a festival weekend. It&#8217;s so specific it will not only be really challenging, but I think yield some pretty incredible, unique results.\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Cocktails will play a big role in the event. How do you go about collaborating with a mixologist for such an event?\u00a0<\/strong><em>We\u2019re working on all of the cocktail recipes now but guests will be pleasantly surprised by the wide variety and inventive creations.<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>From your show to your books to your foundation\u2014you have accomplished so much. What are you most proud of? Anything you are still hoping to achieve?\u00a0<\/strong><em>My continued work with the military is a big part of my day to day. We\u2019re continuing our work to help enhance and bolster military food programs worldwide. I also believe that success is only a virtue if you can give back and share it with worthy causes.
