No shopping and very little prep needed. What we like even more is when those meal kits cater to families, with meals that kids will also enjoy eating and cooking.<br \/>\nRecently, we had the chance to try three meals from\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/onepotato.com\/\">One Potato<\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong>a family-friendly meal delivery service that provides fresh, organic pre-portioned meal kits straight to your door. One Potato comes from\u00a0Catherine McCord, who is the founder of the popular recipe blog <a href=\"http:\/\/weelicious.com\/\"><strong>Weelicious<\/strong><\/a> and cookbooks <em>Weelicious: 140 Fast, Fresh and Easy Recipes <\/em>(2012) and <em>Weelicious Lunches: Think Outside the Lunch Box with More Than 160<\/em> <em>Happier Meals<\/em> (2013).<br \/>\nOne Potato meals arrive on Tuesday which, by our schedule, is perfect. You can craft the easy One Potato meals during busy weeknights and, come the weekend, you are ready to devote a little more time into meal-making and are possibly heading out for dinners. The three meals arrived in a cooler, each meals&#8217; ingredients divided into their\u00a0own bag so you don&#8217;t have to do any searching and sorting. Then, you can simply pop the bags in to the fridge until you&#8217;re ready to get cooking.<br \/>\nApart from the convenience, the bonus of meal kits is that they make you prepare dishes you wouldn&#8217;t normally have in your dinner routine. The three meals we prepared during our One Potato trial are meals we would never think to make, but we very much enjoyed each one and would definitely recreate on our own (you can keep the recipes, after all). We enjoyed spring veggie potstickers with an arugula salad topped with pear (pictured on homepage); black bean soup, with a sweet corn salsa, and cheese quesadillas (pictured above); and, lastly, steak that could either be prepared as a sandwich, on delicious crusty bread with a swipe of aioli, or a salad, with a yummy citrus dressing and loads of veggies, like tomato and roasted red peppers.<br \/>\nThe recipes were very easy to follow and provided in a step-by-step format; even older children could prepare the meals solo. And the ingredients were abundant. We had plenty to go around for a family of four, and even had some extra cheeses and dressings that we were able to use at a later time.<br \/>\nFor dessert? Well, One Potato has that taken care of as every delivery comes with a tub of ready-to-bake cookie dough.<br \/>\nFor three meals per week, the pricing is as follows: $11.99 per adult meal (with an extra charge for gluten-free meals) and $4.50 per child-size portion.
