Gorgeous Golf Estate in Scottsdale

Built in 2008, this 7,500-sq.-ft. contemporary home overlooks the 18th hole of a golf course in North Scottsdale. Stacked-stone exterior walls contrast with the radiused copper roof, balcony and pool and spa, whose sinuous lines intensify the overall drama and rhythm.

Foyer
A dramatic overture to the home, the entryway celebrates the clients’ collection of art glass with two vari-red-toned matching pieces shadowed against radiused niches—reaffirming the circularity of the home. Limestone flooring and coving contrast with the rift-cut oak-paneled walls, the sofa-back Macassar ebony millwork and the walnut-framed dining chairs. The curved floor feature is a hammered black granite surround with backlit textured glass.  Underneath is LED lighting in clear glass pebbles, creating an even “glow” in the floor.

Great Room
The custom curved sofa has a granite-topped console which mirrors its shape along the back. The cocktail table is mahogany and Macassar ebony, with a laminated, frosted glass top. Limestone flooring, continuing from the foyer; stacked-stone walls, reiterating the exterior; and rift-sawn oak panels are used. The fireplace wall is clad in Marron Cohiba granite and features a motorized television, which lifts out of the granite to the left of the fireplace.

Office
The homeowners’ “escape” is the only room in the house on the second floor, with a private deck overlooking the 18th hole. The desk and credenza are by Dakota Jackson; the walls are black Venetian plaster; the artwork is by Max Hammond; and the ceiling is clad in leather tiles.

Master Bedroom
Stained oak cabinetry wraps around the leather headboard. The soffit continues with the same leather while mirroring the shape of the bed. Dark tones and natural materials create a relaxed but dramatic effect. The area rug geometry restates the shapes of the headboard and ceiling. The curved seating piece swivels for watching TV, which is hidden in the chest at the foot of the bed, or to enjoy the view. The corner of the room opens in both directions with pocketing doors, so the bedroom becomes part of the pool and patio.
