McCormick Ranch Beauty from Vallone Design

A CLEAN SLATE
Neutral tones and touches of French, contemporary and romantic design result in a stunning Santa Barbara-style 3,600-sq.-ft. home in Scottsdale’s McCormick Ranch. 0712-AFM-HOMES3

MASTER BATH
From its spacious stand-alone bathtub and wall color to its neutral cabinetry and Calcutta marble countertops, Kris Stockfisch of Vallone Design, Inc. kept the master bath “bright and white.” Not only is the result a clean and calming spot for bathing and beautifying, but the white space puts focus on the home’s unique accent window.

MASTER BEDROOM
While softly flowing taupe drapery, simple white bedding and an ornate desk make this master bedroom utterly romantic and serene, its statement-maker is an oversize piece of artwork that graces an otherwise bare wall.

WORD TO THE WISE
“Use pieces that are meaningful to you and your family. That is what makes it a home and not just a house. I let a few things bring in color and interest and the rest provide the calm neutral backdrop.” ̶ —Kris Stockfisch

KITCHEN
While much of the home is airy and light, the kitchen, with its dark wood cabinetry and Bluestone flooring, exudes a much more contemporary and utilitarian aesthetic.

WORD TO THE WISE
“I love to mix antiques with contemporary touches to make rooms interesting.” ̶—K.S.

LIVING ROOM
The living room is the epitome of warmth, making guests feel at home—perhaps near the cozy fireplace?—thanks to a neutral palette with touches of blue. “The limestone fireplace and all the custom finishes bring charm to the house,” Stockfisch says. The French-inspired space is rounded out with wide-plank ash wood floors and a beautiful, yet subdued, chandelier.

OUTDOOR LIVING AREA
The McCormick Ranch home had been abandoned for nearly a year when Stockfisch got her hands on it, and its neglect was most obvious on the outside. “The yard was so overgrown,” she says. “I remember we could not even get the side gates open to go in the backyard.” Now, the home boasts a beautiful alfresco area where guests can relax on built-in seating and loungers near the pool or pull up a chair at the rustic wood table.
