Salcito Custom Homes

Interview with Anthony Salcito

How did you get into custom home building?

My mother and father started Salcito Construction Co., Inc. in the late 1960’s in Connecticut and then Salcito Custom Homes, Ltd. in Scottsdale, AZ in 1978. I have never worked at another business, nor did I ever imagine doing anything other than what I do now. Building on a family heritage that spans four decades continues to be rewarding to me and I expect that it always will.

What area of your field are you most passionate about?

I enjoy the process, especially dealing with clients from start to finish. Salcito Custom Homes, Ltd. is integrated; we offer complete design-build services, construction management, interiors, framing and property management. Those services, a nearly 35-year history in the Valley, and providing the highest level of service in everything that we do, all day, every day, is what I am passionate about.

Approximately how many homes have you built in the North Scottsdale area? How about in Silverleaf/DC Ranch specifically?

More than 300 homes in North Scottsdale and Paradise Valley, close to 80 in DC Ranch/Silverleaf and Market Street, including the work I have going now.

How is building in Silverleaf different or similar to building projects you have completed elsewhere?

The architectural guidelines are more encompassing in Silverleaf, so in the end all the homes in the neighborhood look pretty good. Most are great custom homes. The point is that you know going in that you will never end up with something terrible next to you. Overall those strict guidelines help keep property values up.

Are there any special considerations made by you, the builder, when building in golf developments like Silverleaf?

When Salcito Custom Homes is involved in the design process, we consider a client’s programming requirements and wish list regardless of the development.

What do you enjoy about building in Silverleaf?

The majority of my work currently is and has been for more than a decade in Silverleaf and DC Ranch. My office and design center is located on Market Street and I live in Silverleaf. I manage more than 35 properties in the immediate area. I am currently building six homes and one tenant improvement in the DC Ranch/Silverleaf area, providing framing and trim carpentry work on all of my projects. I am set up to service the area and intend to keep it that way for a long time.

Argue Custom Homes

Interview with Tom Argue

How did you get into custom home building?

More than two decades ago, I turned my passion into a reality. While working successfully in the commercial and environmental construction industry in California, I transitioned to designing and building custom homes in my hometown of Scottsdale. I [believe] my success in the building industry is due to my philosophies of integrity, honesty and dedication. Being named Arizona Foothills 2012 Best Custom Homes Builder is a huge honor. I attribute this accomplishment to the excellence of our employees and subcontractors.

What area of the field are you most passionate about?

My passion for the business is all encompassing. Our team’s passion is as vibrant from the day we create a feasibility study to the day we see our clients move into their home. Through the entire journey, every day is filled with the desire to exceed the expectation of our clients and deliver an inspiring product.

How many homes in North Scottsdale and Silverleaf have you built?

We have built more than a hundred homes Valley wide but our core business has always been in North Scottsdale. My wife, Margaret, and I have always lived in North Scottsdale. Six years ago, we moved our family into Silverleaf and are proud to call the community home. We have built or are currently in design building more than 20 homes in the Silverleaf community. We are proud of our strong building presence in the community. We embrace the personal relationships we have with each of our clients. Each of these relationships reflects our true success.

How is building in Silverleaf different than other communities?

Silverleaf is a community that embraces the natural environment. Subsequently, the developer enforces a complex design standard that upholds the integrity of the community while preserving the natural desert. While some may find these standards rigorous and challenging, we embrace them and value the Covenant Commission’s vision. There are many other challenges due to the soil conditions, terrain, and hydrology concerns to name a few, but these challenges are all part of the necessary evolution of constructing the Valley’s very best homes.

What do enjoy about building in Silverleaf?

We enjoy building in many of the Valley’s communities. We are proud to be a preferred builder in many of the Valley’s custom home communities. Being a resident of Silverleaf, I am fortunate to have several of our projects close to home. I am fortunate to work with some of the best professionals in the business. Whether it is the Covenant Commission of Silverleaf, interaction with the developer, working with the Valley’s finest architects and engineers, every day I feel privileged to be part of the best in the industry. Silverleaf is a unique community that has risen from the majestic hillside of the McDowell Mountains. Its elevation allows many home sites the opportunity to take full advantage of the best the desert has to offer. The diversity of its membership, the amenities of the club, the relationship to the McDowell Mountains are just some of the great assets Silverleaf offers to its residents.
