Scotland and Ireland offer vacations with plenty of activities, scenery, and cool weather with long daylight hours. During summer, temperatures typically range from the mid-60s to the mid-70s Fahrenheit.\u00a0 These locations offer activities that are both historic and fascinating to kids, such as castles, cliffs, steam trains, and more. They offer abundant wildlife, making it a great option for hiking and other outdoor adventures.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summer is puffin season in Ireland. These adorable, miniature penguin-looking birds come ashore to breed from May through July. You can view them along the rugged west coast, particularly on islands like Skelligs, Saltee Islands, and the Cliffs of Moher. You can take a day trip from either Dublin or Galway to experience puffin season, but it\u2019s much closer to Galway.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you plan to explore only the cities, a car is not needed, as they are connected by train. However, if you plan on leaving the city, it\u2019s a good idea to rent a car.\u00a0If you want to experience some really chilly weather, the Scottish Highlands offer a great experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is the coldest place in the UK, known for its beautiful mountains and landscapes. The Isle of Skye is a must-see, offering crystal-clear, cold-blue fairy pools, waterfalls, and wildlife such as sea eagles, dolphins, and highland cows.
