Centuries ago, water once covered the vast Sunriver area in Bend, Oregon. Eventually, that water broke through its natural dam, leaving behind a dry lake bed that slowly developed into one of the Pacific Northwest’s most beautiful meadows, in which Sunriver Resort found its home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1965, John D. Gray, founder of Omark Industries, and Donald V. McCallum, a Portland attorney, announced their plan to build a gem among resorts and hotels in Oregon. They named the resort Sunriver to reflect the area’s most characteristic features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunriver would become an Oregon resort and residential community with carefully defined parameters. One of the most significant was a luxurious lodge that would anchor activity for the entire development. More importantly, the natural environment would not be compromised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 1969, Sunriver has become the Pacific Northwest’s finest resort community, offering wide-ranging accommodations, including 245 guest rooms and suites and 300+ vacation homes and condominiums, plus resort activities, amenities, and facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
