The Wigwam, which officially opened its doors in 1929, originated as a place to stay for the executives of the Ohio-based Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. The executives of the tire company sought out the West Valley in Phoenix because it was a prime location to grow cotton for rubber production. Cotton played a key role in the production of tires because the fibers are used to strengthen the overall structure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The once-small lodge created during the rise of cotton ranching is now a thriving resort fit for today\u2019s travelers. The Wigwam is full of recreational activities and amenities spread across 440 lush acres of land. Today, the world-class resort features 331 spacious adobe-style casitas and suites, three swimming pools, abundant indoor and outdoor event space, a luxury spa, signature restaurants and more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
