Hip-hop if I\u2019m in that mode or classic country music if I\u2019m in that mode. Nothing beats George Strait.<\/p>\n My family\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n is mostly scattered across Texas. I get out there 4 – 5 times a year. Here in Arizona it\u2019s just my son and I, oh, and our tortoise Snowflake.<\/p>\n If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n my maternal grandparents one last time.<\/p>\n One thing I cannot live without\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n is my boy, Jonah Bear\u2026 and red meat.<\/p>\n When I was younger, I wanted to be\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n a professional athlete. I always wanted to be in pro-baseball player. Lo and behold I made it as a pro athlete, but as a football player.<\/p>\n I’m inspired by\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n my grandparents, two first-generation Americans from Mexico. They paved the way for my mother, her siblings, and eventually all their grandchildren to live the American dream.<\/p>\n The one person who motivates me is\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n my dad, at least when I was younger. I can still hear him yelling at me to work harder. Now, it\u2019s my son and providing for him.<\/p>\n If I could change anything in the world, it would be\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n to allow bars to stay open later.<\/p>\n The perfect day would be\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n a Tuesday, because every Tuesday my son and I get tacos, he gets a haircut, we walk over to Dunkin\u2019 Donuts and finish the day with a dip in the pool. Perfection!<\/p>\n My first job was\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n NFL Quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, I got a little spoiled with that one.<\/p>\n My favorite escape\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n is a flight to Houston. I get to see my parents and a lot of my extended family while there.<\/p>\n My life\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n is amazing, and they only way it could improve would be if I won the lottery, or married rich.<\/p>\n I’m currently working on\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n building my book of business at Brown and Brown Insurance. Any business owners looking to protect their company let me know.<\/p>\n Always\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n be humble.<\/p>\n Never\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n worry about the things you cannot control.<\/p>\n Favorite Quote\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201c<\/strong>Nobody cares, work harder\u201d.<\/p>\n Biggest Dream\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n seeing my son accomplish something that I didn\u2019t, and knowing that he and his actions changed the world for better.<\/p>\n My Pet Peeve(s)\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n I got a few: people who don\u2019t return their shopping carts to the proper locations, people who walk down the middle of the lane in a parking lot, people who dress their dogs, people who don\u2019t take care of their front yards, people who don\u2019t play defense in pick-up basketball, people who misuse the word literally, people who say, \u201cUgh, it\u2019s hot out\u201d, when it\u2019s the summer in Arizona\u2026what the hell were you expecting, cold weather? I have more, but I\u2019ll stop there.<\/p>\n More about John\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n a native of El Paso, Texas, John Skelton was a four-year starter at Fordham University in\u00a0New York City\u00a0while studying Business Administration at the Patriot League School.\u00a0Upon graduation\u00a0Skelton was the Arizona Cardinals 5th Round Pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. Skelton played 16 games over\u00a0three years as the Cardinals’ starting Quarterback before being released in 2012. Skelton played two more seasons in the NFL\u00a0spending time with the Cincinnati Bengals, San Francisco 49ers, and Tennessee Titans before\u00a0officially retiring\u00a0from the NFL\u00a0in 2015. After a short stint dabbling in commercial real estate here in the Valley, Skelton began his current\u00a0career as a Commercial Insurance Broker for\u00a0Brown & Brown, the 6th largest insurance\u00a0brokerage in the world. At Brown & Brown, Skelton\u00a0helps coordinate large companies’ insurance programs\u00a0helping them\u00a0mitigate risks while\u00a0protecting their\u00a0assets. Through partnering with his clients a comprehensive insurance plan is developed.
