Married\/Single: <\/b>Not this question again\u2026.currently single but I ain\u2019t mad about it.<\/p>\n

Kids: <\/b>None at the moment. When my 5 year old nephew mistakenly calls me \u201cmom\u201d I don\u2019t correct him.<\/p>\n

City you live in: <\/b>Phoenix grew up here, left after college for 10 years. I swore I wouldn\u2019t return because of the heat. Came back to the heat 5 years ago and bought a home. <\/b><\/p>\n

I was born\u2026 <\/b><\/p>\n

in Tulsa OK, but my parents drove to Phoenix 5 months after I was born. I rode in the car for over 1000 miles without a car seat. They weren\u2019t invented yet.<\/p>\n

My favorite thing about Arizona\u2026<\/b><\/p>\n

the mountains and the fact that in the winter we can wear a coat in the morning and short shorts in the afternoon.<\/p>\n

I’m listening to\u2026<\/b><\/p>\n

I\u2019m travelling for work at the moment so I am in the lobby of a hotel in the Philippines listening to local talent sing American pop songs from the 80s. On my ipod I\u2019m jamming to Lorde and Frank Sinatra. Yes I am black. <\/b><\/p>\n

My family\u2026<\/b><\/p>\n

they are big and brown and bubbly. They like food, maybe too much, and they have hearts of gold.<\/p>\n

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be\u2026<\/b><\/p>\n

One thing I cannot live without\u2026<\/b><\/p>\n

a latte with vanilla syrup and a quick look at People Magazine online. I like to know which celebrity is pregnant, dating, and engaged so I can compare my life.<\/p>\n

When I was younger, I wanted to be\u2026<\/b><\/p>\n

a dancer. As a child, I took ballet lessons but I quit when I realized my legs were not built to do ballet. I went on to take jazz classes and did much better, but who wants to be a jazz dancer? Having jazz hands is corny, right? Right?<\/p>\n

I’m inspired by\u2026<\/b><\/p>\n

people who overcome stuff. Anything. A bad day, bad breakup, a bad job, a bad doctor\u2019s report. Whatever. If you overcome it and have a story to tell, you have my attention and I love you.<\/p>\n

The one person who motivates me is\u2026<\/b><\/p>\n

ok so maybe this sounds vain but I have to motivate myself. If I depend on other people to make me feel good or feel like I can achieve something then I don\u2019t feel like I\u2019m pointing in the right direction. I have to use my faith in a God who sees how ridiculous I can be and my belief that I am able to do all things thorough him.<\/p>\n

If I could change anything in the world, it would be\u2026<\/b><\/p>\n

the fact that children die because they don\u2019t have enough food, water or medical supplies makes me physically ill. I really want to change that.<\/p>\n

The perfect day would be\u2026<\/b><\/p>\n

wake up feeling great for no reason other than the fact that it\u2019s a new day and mercy and goodness follow me.<\/p>\n

My first job was\u2026<\/b><\/p>\n

I was 15 and I lied and said I was 16 so I could work at McDonalds. I had an addiction to Reebok sneakers and needed funds for this habit. I haven\u2019t worked as hard since that first job.<\/p>\n

My favorite escape\u2026<\/b><\/p>\n

I can escape anywhere, give me a window to look out of and I can spend hours thinking and imagining and planning. I love to think. If daydreaming were a sport I would have a medal.<\/p>\n

My life\u2026<\/b><\/p>\n

has been an amazing journey full of joy and tears and triumph and trouble, but I love every experience. I love that I\u2019ve loved people who didn\u2019t love me back, I\u2019ve suffered excruciating pain that made me immobile, I\u2019ve finished half marathons. I have lived in other countries and have stamps in my passport that I never would have planned. I have felt incredibly lonely and I have been extremely fulfilled. I know both. I am in love with my life.<\/p>\n

I’m currently working on\u2026<\/b><\/p>\n

a book of humor essays, I\u2019m thinking of calling it Me and My Hips. But its not sexual so if your mind goes to the gutter then bring it on back.<\/p>\n
