AZF: What is your \u201clife motto\u201d?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Go have fun with the people you love today. Tomorrow you’ll have the memory.             <\/p>\n\n\n\n

AZF: Did you always know that you wanted to be an entrepreneur? If not, when did you realize that it was the right path for you?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I didn’t set out to run my own business. I kept looking for local guides that should have existed and found nothing useful. Scottsdale has so much going on, and none of it was in one place. Eventually it clicked that somebody had to build it, and that somebody was going to be me. Turns out the part I love most is getting to choose what gets covered and which businesses I work with, so everything on the site is something I’d actually send a friend to.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AZF: How do you feel best supported?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Foundress community is a big one. I’ve been a member for years, and sitting in a room with women who are all building something, sharing what’s working and what isn’t, fills my cup every time. The other kind of support is less obvious. It comes from the businesses I work with, because the relationship genuinely runs both ways. They reach people at the exact moment those people are searching for what they do, and my guides are better because of it. We’re lifting each other up, and that’s my favorite part of this job.     <\/p>\n\n\n\n

AZF: What motivates you to keep going amidst the challenges that come with being an entrepreneur?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Knowing it actually helps. I’ve lived all over the country, and everywhere I go I notice the same thing. The people who’ve lived somewhere longest tend to see the least of it. Most of my friends back east have never been inside the Statue of Liberty. Scottsdale is no different. There’s so much here, and it’s easy to let years go by without getting to any of it. I’ve been here ten years, and my list is still long. Every guide I put out makes it a little easier for someone to get out and enjoy where they live, and that never gets old.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AZF: Describe your perfect Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It changes with the season, both the calendar kind and the life kind. Fall is my favorite, so a perfect Saturday starts with a walk with my black lab, Jersey Girl, and College GameDay on while I get ready. Then I’m meeting friends and family at a sports bar for brunch and football. Go Huskers and Hoosiers!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AZF: What\u2019s one piece of advice you\u2019d give to a young entrepreneur who is just starting out?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You’re more capable than you think you are. Don’t go looking for a partner just because there are things you don’t know how to do yet. You can learn almost all of it, and a partnership is much harder to undo than a skill is to learn. Also, stop trying to keep everything in the air. I’m juggling ten balls and always dropping one. The trick is picking which one, and rotating it based on what matters most that week.               <\/p>\n\n\n\n

AZF: What excites you most about being an entrepreneur?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I get to build the thing I always wished existed. Most of my guides start as something I was searching for myself. I wanted to plan a winery day trip with girlfriends, so I mapped out the Verde Valley Wine Trail and turned it into a guide anyone can use. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wanted to take my kids somewhere fun on a hot summer day, so I built a guide to indoor fun. After twelve years in media, I still can’t believe I get to cover the things I love and hand the research to everyone else at the same time. Planning fun experiences has always been my favorite thing. Now it’s my job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
