A typical day in my life includes\u2026 <\/strong>up early to try and take a little time for me.\u00a0 A little yoga and lots of coffee before the craziness starts.\u00a0 Then it\u2019s off to the races between client meetings and phone calls, project emails, drafting and designing, billing, filing, business development, proposals and everything that a start-up business needs to do.\u00a0 I wear a lot of hats \u2013 and not just the one I had for the Kentucky Derby!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was born\u2026 <\/strong>in Corvallis, Oregon to a family of Renaissance people.\u00a0 In my family, it was important that we could do a little of everything, and all of it well \u2013 school, music and sports. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My favorite thing about Arizona\u2026 <\/strong>we are so blessed to live in such a beautiful state that offers something for everyone.\u00a0 My favorite thing by far is the people.\u00a0 In the short time that I\u2019ve been here, I have met some of the most incredible and authentic people.\u00a0 From my MBA cohort to the regulars at Bottleshop48 and everything in between, I have been fortunate to meet some phenomenal individuals who have also become great friends!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m listening to\u2026 <\/strong>Instrumental Hip Hop!\u00a0 It is really fun to bop your head while working on a drawing or a spreadsheet and listening to an instrumental version of some of the classic hip hop songs from the 80\u2019s and 90\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My family\u2026<\/strong> is super supportive!\u00a0 Now, my biological immediate family may be far away, I know that they support me in my endeavors here.\u00a0 Equally so, is my extended biological family in Michigan, Washington, California and Sweden!\u00a0 However, in addition to the support of my biological family, I am truly blessed to have the support of my assumed family of friends and my new husband and in-laws.\u00a0 And let\u2019s not forget the unconditional support of my 4-legged fur-babies Bob, Clark, Luyah and Patches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be\u2026 <\/strong>Gumby. \u201cGumby has both feet on the ground, but his head is in the clouds. His focus is on doing what is right and good. Because of his faith in following his heart, everything always works out for him in the end, whether that means a triumph, or learning a lesson.\u201d \u2013 gumbyworld.com\u00a0 Besides, who wouldn\u2019t want to hang out with Gumby and his whole gang!\u00a0 To hear them recount the stories of their adventures would be an adventure in itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One thing I cannot live without\u2026 <\/strong>massages!\u00a0 Working, working out, life\u2026 it can take its toll on you.\u00a0 So my wellness routine and relaxation method of choice is to get regular massages.\u00a0 I could use one right now!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I was younger, I wanted to be\u2026 <\/strong>a rock star!\u00a0 I would jump around my room using a round brush as a microphone singing \u201cWe Got the Beat!\u201d from The Go-Go\u2019s.\u00a0 Although I had a brief time of more local-ish fame on stage, this was just not meant to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m inspired by\u2026<\/strong> the fact that each and every one of us is going through something.\u00a0 It inspires me to meet people and hear their stories and learn from their struggles and their victories.\u00a0 It inspires me to know that none of us is alone and each has the opportunity to listen and to be heard, to care and to be cared for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The one person who motivates me is\u2026 <\/strong>my dad.\u00a0 I remember so many times that he would tell me \u201cGo get \u2018em, Tiger\u201d, especially during a soccer game.\u00a0 There was one such occasion that jumps out to me in which I was so mad at him that morning for something likely very silly.\u00a0 During the game, I was about to take a corner kick for my team.\u00a0 He yelled out from the sideline that same \u201cGo get \u2018em, Tiger!\u201d\u00a0 I was furious!\u00a0 So I kicked the ball as hard as I absolutely could, just as if to kick him.\u00a0 Next thing I know, the ball sails into the net\u2026. I scored!\u00a0 My anger subsided and now it is just a great memory of my dad loving me and caring for me even though he knew I was mad.\u00a0 I want to be like that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If I could change anything in the world, it would be\u2026<\/strong> to slow it down.\u00a0 We are all moving at a breakneck pace with so much to do every day.\u00a0 I would work to retrain society to slow down, stop and smell the roses, enjoy the beauty of a sunset and listen to the still small voice inside that tells us that it\u2019s ok to enjoy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The perfect day would be\u2026 <\/strong>today!\u00a0 Each day has the promise to be the best day of our lives \u2013 at least so far!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My first job was\u2026 <\/strong>doing data entry at my mom\u2019s company.\u00a0 She was in their IT department, before it was even called IT.\u00a0 One summer, I had some time on my hands and she needed some data entry done \u2013 perfect!\u00a0 Work on my typing while getting paid for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My favorite escape\u2026 <\/strong>my backyard.\u00a0 We have created a little oasis right in the middle of central Scottsdale near a very busy intersection.\u00a0 Although we sometimes hear those racing their McLaren\u2019s down Scottsdale Road, it is my little respite.\u00a0 It is a welcoming, cozy, friendly and peaceful place to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My life\u2026 <\/strong>is definitely like a box of chocolates.\u00a0 Every day I never know what I\u2019m going to get!\u00a0 But every single day\u2019s adventure has been worth it and I can\u2019t wait for what tomorrow brings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m currently working on\u2026 <\/strong>building a firm that is based on relationships and whose medium is architecture and design.\u00a0 Designing beautiful spaces and wonderful buildings is as much about truly caring for the people involved and the process it takes as it is about the result.\u00a0I intend to prove this by building authentic relationships and leading the process through honoring my employees, clients, and industry partners with respect, offering grace, understanding individual value, listening, and expecting the same in return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Always\u2026 <\/strong>listen first.\u00a0 Everyone has a story to tell.\u00a0 Everyone has the inherent need to be cared for and heard.\u00a0 By listening first and listening to understand we can get just a little bit closer to the best kind of human connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Never\u2026 <\/strong>go to bed angry.\u00a0 We each may find from time to time that we are frustrated, disappointed in people and at times just plain angry.\u00a0 That anger can find its way to becoming resentment very quickly.\u00a0 And when resentment festers, relationships crumble.\u00a0 We have a choice on how we react to the things that happen around and to us.\u00a0 I choose to let go of anger about the things I cannot do anything about and instead focus on how I should react to what is actually in my control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biggest Dream\u2026 <\/strong>ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to have my own architectural firm!\u00a0 It has taken many years to get to this point in my life, but now I need to find another dream.\u00a0 So now, I\u2019m looking at the expansion possibilities of design-build and full development partnerships!\u00a0 Dream BIG!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My Pet Peeve(s)\u2026 <\/strong>delivery food that spills in the bag.\u00a0 There\u2019s nothing worse than ordering that amazing Pho from the restaurant across town and having it spill in the bag.\u00a0 The delivery driver shows up, shrugs his shoulders as if, \u201cit wasn\u2019t me, they didn\u2019t pack it well\u201d.\u00a0 Maybe that\u2019s another pet peeve \u2013 shirking
