She was my caretaker as well during my second round with Leukemia. I had a bone marrow transplant about 220 days ago and she has taken care of me every day since.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Kids:<\/strong> I have no kids<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>City you live in:<\/strong> Peoria, AZ and I love every minute of it. Even thru the hot summers, I LOVE it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A typical day in my life includes\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>waking up and working out. My life has always been working out and training for something or some kind of event. As of now I still have treatments at the Mayo Clinic but that doesn\u2019t stop me from doing what I love.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I was born\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>in San Diego, CA and I\u2019m glad I\u2019m close to it living here in AZ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>My favorite thing about Arizona is\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>the beautiful weather and the amazing skies! The evenings are my favorite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>My family\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>has been through a lot with me and my cancer diagnosis. I was first diagnosed in August of 2014 and I have been battling it ever since. I have one younger brother who lives in Bozeman, Montana and he loves it there. My dad and stepmom live in Modesto, CA and my mother lives here in El Mirage, AZ.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If I could have dinner with anyone it would be\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dwayne \u201cThe Rock\u201d Johnson. I was on his new television show, The Titan Games, and it was such an amazing experience. We got to talk a little but not as much as we could if we actually went out to eat and had a cheat meal, lol!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When I was younger I wanted to be\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>a police officer so I could help people who were in trouble. I actually joined the military as a Security Forces member and was trained in law enforcement and combat arms to protect and serve fellow Airmen around the clock with similar responsibilities as civilian officers including responding to emergencies, directing traffic, and investigating crimes on base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I\u2019m inspired by\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>a lot by people who go through life-changing illnesses and fight as hard as they can to overcome them because I was heavily impacted by cancer and I know the battle. They keep me fighting the good fight!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If I could change anything in the world, it would be\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>cancer is a terrible, horrific disease and I wish I could change that about our world. I\u2019ve seen so many people go through this terrible disease and a lot of them do not make it and it\u2019s awful. It definitely affects me a certain way and I wish I could change it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The perfect day would be\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>competing in the CrossFit Games after all of this cancer stuff is behind me. It\u2019s been a huge goal of mine that has been temporarily halted for now. I\u2019ll be back though!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>My favorite escape\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>the CrossFit gym. When I\u2019m healthy again and through with all these treatments you can catch me there almost all day.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>My life&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><p>is unique. I was chosen as a Man of the Year candidate for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I was diagnosed with AML Leukemia in August of 2014. I went into remission and battled my way back up until I relapsed April of 2019. The first time around I endured complete organ failure and was on life support. After beating it the first time, I focused my entire life on health and fitness and decided to chase all my goals in and out of the gym. Once I focused all my energy on what I loved to do, it changed my life immensely. My story motivated and inspired others from all around the world and that is what made me happy. I wound up appearing on a television series that features people from across America competing in endurance-based mental and physical challenges called The Titan Games. I got to showcase what hard work and dedication can lead to, and after something as tragic as cancer, you can still bounce back and continue doing what you love.<\/p>\n<p>Once The Titan Games were over, I was deployed for some time. Unfortunately during deployment, my Leukemia had relapsed and I was medically evacuated back to the states and started my treatments again to get back into remission. Not everything went smoothly this time around and I ended up back in the ICU with an infection that was aiming for my brain. Thank goodness the doctors caught it before it ended up deadly. I had 5 surgeries in 7 days to get it under control. I had a bone marrow transplant scheduled during the time my infection occurred which then pushed the transplant back a few months. It was a little scary because we didn\u2019t want to relapse at that time and fortunately I didn\u2019t relapse. Here I am 220 days out of my transplant living life and doing a little of what I love. My body isn\u2019t producing red blood cells at this time and the doctors are trying to figure out why that\u2019s happening but it isn\u2019t stopping me from training hard in the gym while they figure it out.
