I have a view of Squaw Peak from my office. It changes color throughout the day &#8211; fabulous!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>I&#8217;m listening to\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>I love books, so I\u2019m listening to Giuliana Rancic\u2019s memoir, <em>Going Off Script. <\/em>It\u2019s hilarious.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>My family\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>means EVERYTHING to me.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Virginia Hall &#8211; World War II spy, one of the first woman CIA agents, and the subject of my second book.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>One thing I cannot live without\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>coffee, first thing in the morning. It brews with a timer and when the gong sounds, my feet hit the floor.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>When I was younger, I wanted to be\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>depended on the day, sometimes a doctor, sometimes a teacher, sometimes an actress. As a mom I guess I got to do them all!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>I&#8217;m inspired by\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>people who have overcome immense adversity, but never talk about it or themselves.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>The one person who motivates me is\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>my husband. He is a great sounding board for everything, and as a retired fire chief, he\u2019s really good at triaging life!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>If I could change anything in the world, it would be\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>that we could get a better handle on cancer. So much money, so much research yet people are still diagnosed. It breaks my heart.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>The perfect day would be\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>always a day at the beach. I wake up to the sound of waves in a beachside condo. I have breakfast and coffee on my lanai overlooking the water. I beach comb, read, swim, and have dinner either on the lanai or at a restaurant overlooking the water. It would be great with my husband, kids are invited too. I just love the beach!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>My first job was\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>picking blueberries in South Haven, MI<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>My favorite escape<\/strong><strong>\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>the beach all day long!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>My life\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>is really perfect. I survived a very aggressive cancer. I have a fabulous family, a husband I adore (obviously!), get to the kind of work I love, and really don\u2019t have a single need. Maybe a new pair of shoes \u2026<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>I&#8217;m currently working on\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>my fourth book. It\u2019s the history of Nixon\u2019s War on Cancer, the Survivorship Movement, and the incredible individuals who changed the game for survivors everywhere. Did you know people thought cancer was contagious until about 1990?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Always\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>be grateful. On life\u2019s ladder, there will be folks above who have more, but there are many below. Sometimes it\u2019s important to realize what\u2019s really enough.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Never\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>judge a book by its cover. Or a person by their appearance. The most put-together individual could really be struggling, the shabbiest one might be brilliant and happy and someone to look up to.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Favorite Quote<\/strong><strong>\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Artist Mary Cassatt told Theodore Pope, a survivor of the doomed <em>Lusitania<\/em>, \u201cIf you were saved it is because you have something else to do in this world.\u201d It is what motivated me to create A 2nd Act.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Biggest Dream\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>that everything I do \u2013 my books, A 2nd Act, and being a good human being \u2013 enhances the lives of others, even if in a tiny way.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>My Pet Peeve(s)<\/strong><strong>\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>rude people. Do not beat your kids or dogs in front of me. Do not disrespect your elders. Do not disrespect me or those I love.
