Come Summer 2021, Gilbert Regional Park is partnering with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gilbertaz.gov\/departments\/parks-and-recreation\/gilbert-regional-park\/the-strand-gilbert\">The Strand @ Gilbert<\/a> to bring the Valley a $60-million state-of-the-art recreational water park attraction near Higley and Queen Creek Roads. It is the first of its kind in the area and will offer 25 acres of water fun as well as provide significant new revenue to the Gilbert Parks and Recreation annual budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen I chose to locate my home in\nthe Town of Gilbert a few years ago, I believed that the metropolitan Phoenix\narea was ideally suited for an innovative state-of-the-art water park resort,\u201d\nsays John McLaughlin, CEO and founder of Strand\nResorts. \u201cAs I searched, I discovered the Town\u2019s plan for a regional\npark and began discussions with Town staff and learned of the opportunity for a\npublic\/private partnership on a portion of the park site for development of a\nwater-based facility. When the town issued a request for proposals, I put\ntogether a small team to investigate opportunities for the site and proposed my\nvision to the Town. Restaurants, lessons, yoga courses and even outdoor cabana areas are anticipated with the opening of the water sports complex. \u201cThe [team at] Strand @ Gilbert is working tirelessly with numerous
