\u00a0<\/span>Kristin and Geoffrey Pierce are a Queen Creek, Ariz., whose lucked out on Monday and became the grand prize winners of the 2009 Taylor Morrison Dream Home Giveaway. (Pictured above is a Taylor Morrison built home, but not the one the family won).<\/p>\nThe couple was chosen out of more than 147,000 entries received during the two-month nationwide contest sponsored by the Scottsdale-based homebuilder. The Pierces have chosen the Taylor Morrison community of Stratland Estates in Gilbert as the location of their dream home.<\/p>\n
The Pierces were actually shopping for a foreclosed home when they learned they had won the contest. Kristin, who had entered the giveaway after reading about it online, later visited a Taylor Morrison community where she received a special code for 50 additional entries. Yet she still remained apprehensive about the prospect of winning.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve never won anything in my life,\u201d said Pierce, a stay-at-home mom. \u201cThat just doesn\u2019t happen to me. You hear about someone winning the lottery and you wish it was you but you never think that it really could be you.\u201d<\/p>\n
Now, rather than scheduling appointments with Realtors, the Pierces are busy picking out kitchen cabinets, flooring and interior paint colors for their new home. They visited the Taylor Morrison Design Center in Scottsdale last week to begin selecting the interior design elements and start the exciting process of building their new home.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is the second year that we\u2019ve held the Dream Home Giveaway and I can\u2019t tell you how happy it makes us as a company to have been able in each case to award the home to such a worthy winner,\u201d said Sheryl Palmer, CEO of Taylor Morrison.<\/p>\n
Last October, Sacramento, Calif., resident and single mother Jennifer Draa was selected as the company\u2019s first ever Dream Home winner, receiving a home inspired by the Innoventions Dream Home at the Disneyland Resort, which Taylor Morrison built in a partnership with Disneyland, Microsoft, HP and Lifeware.<\/p>\n
The Pierce\u2019s hope to be able to move in to their dream home by the holiday season.<\/p>\n
\u201cI told my mom that this year I want to have Thanksgiving at my house,\u201d Kristin said. \u201cI\u2019ve never been able to do that before.\u201d<\/p>\n
