Modern homes may dominate today’s design landscape, but interior designer Wendy Lowell takes a different approach to her work. Through her wellness-focused design philosophy, Lowell creates spaces that are cohesive and comfortable while also supporting the way people actually live.

“I’m working with clients who want a beautiful home, but they also care about how it supports their everyday life. They want something that’s refined and cohesive without sacrificing comfort or personality,” Lowell said.

That philosophy comes through in a newly renovated home in Troon, where Lowell created an elevated look without sacrificing comfort. From the moment you walk in, the space feels soothing and intentionally depersonalized, making it particularly well suited for a rental property.

""

Built in the 1990s, the home already had a strong foundation, including large natural flagstone, rounded corners, plaster walls and distinctive ceiling details. Rather than covering up those original elements, Lowell used them as a starting point and incorporated the existing architectural features throughout the renovation.

Color was also intentionally placed throughout the home, with a soft palette designed to be easy on the eye. Lowell worked with many of the elements already surrounding the property, creating a natural connection between the home and its surroundings.

The living room, dining area and bedrooms all received updates, giving the 1990s abode a refreshed look while maintaining its original character. The result is a space that demonstrates how a wellness-minded approach to interior design can create a home that feels both polished and genuinely comfortable.
