Before you think about shelving and lighting, it\u2019s essential to take a good look at what you have, how you want to display it, and what you might add to your closet in the future. If you own a lot of coats and dresses, you\u2019re going to need a lot of hanging space. If you own a lot of designer shoes or handbags, you\u2019re going to need more display shelving. You need to account for items you want stored but not displayed. Extra shelving at the top provides a great way to store other miscellaneous items, such as luggage.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you plan to store a lot of belongings, consider adding an island. Closet islands are a great way to maximize storage space, with drawers and shelves for accessories and shoes.
