You guessed it;  The Keto Diet. The point of this post is not to highlight nor speak down upon said \u201cdiet\u201d but to strictly point out that it\u2019s obvious we <em>need<\/em> fats. They play an essential role in losing weight, maintaining brain function, and most importantly, staying healthy overall!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"what-are-fats\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are fats?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fats are another fuel source for our body (carbohydrates being our first line of defense). Good fats promote satiety, fullness,\u00a0brain function, weight loss, and more!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"types-of-fats\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Types of fats:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Saturated fats <\/strong>are found in animals, palm oil, coconut oil, and butter. Saturated fats used to have a bad rep, but eaten in moderation it can help aide your body in many different ways.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Unsaturated fats<\/strong> become most harmful when oxidation occurs and when they are not used properly. It\u2019s best to keep your oils, nuts\/seeds away from heat\/sunlight and allowing the least amount of oxygen inside!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Polyunsaturated fats<\/strong> are in the form of omega-3s and omega-6s\u2019 and are both incredibly important to consume. They help to regulate your metabolism, support brain function, and more!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trans fats are what you need to avoid! These fats are full of chemicals and are harmful to your body.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"foods-to-avoid\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Foods to avoid: <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A lot of store bought baked goods contain \u201ctrans fat\u201d, so always make sure to read the nutrition facts!\u00a0Keep in mind, fats add up quickly! Pay attention to your portion size, and what type of fats you\u2019re ingesting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-0 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"foods-to-consume\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Foods to consume: <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Avocados, nuts, seeds, coconut oil, olive oil, grapeseed oil, chia seeds, salmon, etc!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"how-much-do-you-need\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">How much do you need?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When tracking macros, it\u2019s been to include healthy fats into your diet with a range of 20%-35% of your daily caloric needs.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">**NOTE: This is part <strong>two<\/strong> of a four part series.
