This article is not about restricting or over training. Moderation is key, and we\u2019re going to discuss how you can enjoy Halloween without going over the top.<img  loading=\"lazy\"  decoding=\"async\"  class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7429 aligncenter pk-lqip pk-lazyload\"  src=\"https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/24161916\/halloween-candy-1-80x63.jpg\"  alt=\"\"  width=\"300\"  height=\"237\"  data-pk-sizes=\"auto\"  data-ls-sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\"  data-pk-src=\"https:\/\/www.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/halloween-candy-1-300x237.jpg\"  data-pk-srcset=\"https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/24161916\/halloween-candy-1-300x237.jpg 300w, https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/24161916\/halloween-candy-1-380x300.jpg 380w, https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/24161916\/halloween-candy-1-80x63.jpg 80w, https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/24161916\/halloween-candy-1.jpg 600w\" ><\/p>\n<p>Some of the more common candies out there have the following calorie counts:<br \/>\nM &amp; M\u2019s 1 oz. package 150 calories<br \/>\nREESE\u2019s PIECES (1 package) 210 calories<br \/>\nHershey\u2019s Milk Chocolate bar 270 calories<br \/>\nREESE\u2019s PB cups (1 package) 260 calories<br \/>\nSnickers (1 bar) 230 calories<\/p>\n<p>To give you an idea the average person will burn 250-350 calories in a \u00bd aerobic workout. If it\u2019s yoga, Pilates and\/or strength training (depending on the level of difficulty and whether or not cardio is mixed in) the average person will burn 200-300 calories in the same 30 minutes. As you can see, for just one candy item, you\u2019re going to need to workout for 30 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>So the next time you go grab the candy you should be passing out, think twice.<\/p>\n<p>Keep in mind, in addition to the calories; they primarily consist of refined sugars. Refined sugars not only spike insulin levels, which can lead to fat storage, they also cause inflammation. When inflammation is present, you are more susceptible to disease, injury, and fatigue.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re going to eat the sugar, just be mindful of how much and what it is doing to your body internally and externally. I am a firm believer in treating yourself and not abstaining from foods and\/or drinks you like. Rather keep them in moderation and make sure you keep your activity up to not only offset the extra calories, but to also release endorphins and keep you cardiovascular system strong.<\/p>\n<p>Also, if you indulge this week in Halloween treats or next month in Turkey Days, join us for an individual training day or a group fitness class.
