This may cause some of us to cringe because we may or may not want to show all that skin off!I am hopefully<em>, no matter your<\/em> size, age, weight, or gender you feel <strong>confident<\/strong> enough to <strong>strut your stuff <\/strong>while trying to stay <u>cool<\/u>.<\/p>\n<p>I wanted to focus on exercises that target those \u201cdifficult\u201d areas for most to add to your confidence. <u>Keep in mind<\/u>, <strong>nutrition is key<\/strong>! So while these workouts will target those areas, you\u2019re not going to see more definition, gains or losses unless your eating is dialed in. Working your <strong>legs<\/strong> will not only <u>strengthen<\/u> and <u>tone<\/u> them, but when we work our legs we are releasing more <strong>human growth hormone<\/strong> and <strong>burning more calories<\/strong> than when we work upper (larger muscles worked=better results).<\/p>\n<p>The following are my 5 <strong>favorite<\/strong> leg exercises. If you need help creating a leg workout, feel free to <strong>reach out<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><u>Conventional Deadlifts<\/u>: \u00a0This is an <strong>excellent<\/strong> lift that targets basically the entire posterior (back side). Working your hamstrings, glutes and up the back, this exercise is a must (<em>unless you have back issues<\/em>). Focus on keeping your core tight, feet a little wider than shoulder width and as using either a bar or dumbbells <u>control the movement<\/u> while <strong>breathing<\/strong> in on the way down and out at the top.<\/li>\n<li><u>Wide Stance Squats<\/u>: \u00a0A wider than shoulder width stance with toes out (more like a pli\u00e9) will not only target your glutes, but will help <u>open your hips<\/u> and work the inner thigh a little more. When performing a squat you can use either a bar on your back, hold a weight goblet style or hold the weight down between your legs. No matter what you\u2019re using, focus on your <em>core being tight<\/em>, <em>chest up<\/em> and <em>shoulders back<\/em>. Keep your chin in line with your chest and control the weight on the way down and then drive through the heels and glutes to stand (<strong>do not<\/strong> lock out your knees at the top).<\/li>\n<li><u>Glute Thrusts<\/u>: \u00a0This awesome booty builder will target your glutes while keeping <strong>pressure off<\/strong> the knees and quads. Lying perpendicular on a bench with your shoulders on the bench, lower your hips slowly and then driving up through your glutes squeezing at the top. Some individuals will either use a barbell, dumbbell or sandbag lying across their hips. Just be mindful getting <strong>into and out of<\/strong> position. <em>I suggest a spotter.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><u>Walking lunges<\/u>: \u00a0Walking lunges are great, because you can use dumbbells, a bar or just body weight. You can <em>vary the type<\/em>, by raising your back leg up (to get glutes a little more), take a longer stride (focus more on stretching) or just go heavier (focus more on strength and building). No matter the type, you want to make sure your front knee does not come over your toes, you stay upright and you have <strong>control throughout<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><u>Kettle bell or Dumbbell swings:<\/u> This metabolic (fat burning move) will not only get your <strong>heart rate up<\/strong>, but will target your glutes and core. I suggest you only bring the kettle bell or dumbbell up to <u>parallel to the ground<\/u> to assure you keep the emphasis in your core and glutes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img  loading=\"lazy\"  decoding=\"async\"  class=\"size-medium wp-image-7209 aligncenter pk-lqip pk-lazyload\"  src=\"https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/24161448\/BB1-B-53x80.jpg\"  alt=\"\"  width=\"200\"  height=\"300\"  data-pk-sizes=\"auto\"  data-ls-sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\"  data-pk-src=\"https:\/\/www.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/BB1-B-200x300.jpg\"  data-pk-srcset=\"https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/24161448\/BB1-B-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/24161448\/BB1-B-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/24161448\/BB1-B-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/24161448\/BB1-B-380x570.jpg 380w, https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/24161448\/BB1-B-800x1200.jpg 800w, https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/24161448\/BB1-B-80x120.jpg 80w, https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/24161448\/BB1-B-53x80.jpg 53w, https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/24161448\/BB1-B-73x109.jpg 73w, https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/24161448\/BB1-B-620x930.jpg 620w, https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/24161448\/BB1-B-850x1275.jpg 850w, https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/24161448\/BB1-B.jpg 1000w\" >There are so many other awesome leg exercises and no \u201cone size fits all\u201d, but if you incorporate the above exercises into your program, you will see results.
