A woman was doing <\/span><b>inverted sit ups<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and fell. Her fall left her with a broken 5th vertebrae and no feeling from her neck down. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><img  loading=\"lazy\"  decoding=\"async\"  class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-6936 pk-lqip pk-lazyload\"  src=\"https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/24160757\/Inverted-Sit-Up-53x80.jpg\"  alt=\"\"  width=\"200\"  height=\"300\"  data-pk-sizes=\"auto\"  data-ls-sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\"  data-pk-src=\"https:\/\/www.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Inverted-Sit-Up-200x300.jpg\"  data-pk-srcset=\"https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/24160757\/Inverted-Sit-Up-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/24160757\/Inverted-Sit-Up-80x120.jpg 80w, https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/24160757\/Inverted-Sit-Up-53x80.jpg 53w, https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/24160757\/Inverted-Sit-Up-73x109.jpg 73w, https:\/\/media.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/health-and-fitness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/24160757\/Inverted-Sit-Up.jpg 267w\" ><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Luckily, she beat the odds of not using her limbs or mobility from the neck down to now <\/span><b>walking again<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">So, ask yourself, are you doing the right exercises with correct form to meet your goals?<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Your answer may be different. Maybe you wouldn\u2019t hand upside down for a sit up, but remember this was an extreme example. What if you increased weight to soon and hurt your back, or lean forward or buckle your knees during a squat to stress muscles and bones. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hiring a coach for for intermittent check-ins for proper form and skills will not only keep you safe, but give you proper ways to move forward toward your fitness journey. From choosing the<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> correct weight<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">number of reps<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">,<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> changing things up<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> when you get bored, or holding you <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">accountable<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> are many other reasons a <\/span><b>certified coach<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is in your best interest. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Here\u2019s how to choose the right coach for you: <\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Make sure he\/she is either a <\/span><b>certified<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> personal trainer\/fitness coach and\/or have their degree in either <\/span><b>exercise science<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> or <\/span><b>kinesiology<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. \u00a0Oftentimes gyms will hire someone because they \u201clook\u201d the part. \u00a0Looking good and having your own diet and workouts in check does <\/span><b><i>not<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> mean you know how to do it for others.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Make sure he\/she is <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">living<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> the lifestyle. \u00a0While looking the part does not assure they know how to coach, if they are out of shape themselves and\/or don\u2019t find time to workout then trusting them to know what you <\/span><b>should<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> do can be difficult.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Ask<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">! \u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ask<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> their current clients why they train with them? \u00a0Ask the client what their goals are and what they like and don\u2019t like about the coach. \u00a0Keep in mind it\u2019s personal. You are looking for key characteristics or flaws that will help or hinder your personal goals. It is more than physical appearance. See how they are in group work-outs, nutrition, scheduling, etc. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Watch and Listen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">! \u00a0Pay attention to their social media pages. Observe how they are with other people and what kind of message are they putting out.
